Athens hotels & accommodations

Location: The Athens Cypria is in the middle of the main road (shopping area with stores like H&M, Zara, Mango, etc) leading to Syntagma Square. It is very easy to find. Within walking distance to everything. Breakfast: the usual basic cold cuts breakfast, but what makes it special are their walnuts, dates, dried apricots, good selection of tea, very nice breads & yu...

We booked the Sofitel as we had an early flight the next morning. As we had been in Athens earlier on in our trip we decided it was easier to stay at the airport location rather then go back into Athens. The check in and check out were both extremely fast and efficient. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. As l had read previous reviews about the price of fo...

Friendly staff, unusual room decor but spacious, clean and comfortable accommodations. The hotel is split into two so going for breakfast requires coming down one elevator and taking another. The views from the restaurant is breathtaking, especially at night. The breakfast is absolutely fabulous and tastes like it is traditional home made Greek food. The rooms and bat...

Initially booked Athenaeum Grand but was redirected to Athenaeum Palace, which was equally fantastic hotel located just about 150m adjacent. Location is very convenient with bus stop just outside the hotel, 24hrs convenient store and metro is just 3 stops away. The room was awesome!! New amenities and also comes with a handy which is VERY useful for tourist not having...

So far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in Europe. Their service was exceptionally GOOD. I lost my passport on the first day I arrived Athens, the hotel receptionist helped me out to contact the embassy and assisted me to the nearest police station. Fortunately, three days later, someone from the Ministry of Culture in Athens has found my passport, however I couldn’t co...

After some complications with our room - we had booked a Spa Suite, which was no longer available. The staff did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They compensated us with a complimentary dinner in their own restaurant, which I must say was one of the best meals we had in Greece - and one of the best Views of the Acropolis. Staff in all...

Excellent location although a little noisy.Only disappointment was no kettle in the room but discovered afterwards that they would have supplied one if I had asked. Pleased to have a large bath to soak in! Breakfast fine. Staff very helpful. All in all a good choice, have recommended to friends wanting a good value hotel in Athens

A for Athens hotel is very well located in the main center of Athens. It has the most amazing view of the Acropolis. The restaurant at the top floor is excellent to relax after a day of sightseeing. Also, within walking distance we were able to access a great variety of restaurants with live music which our kids loved. Breakfast is sufficient for the few days anybody w...

I planned to stay 2 nights at Ares Athens hotel, but ended up staying for 7 nights! I immediately felt home and safe in this hotel, because of the 24 hour reception. Nikos, who was there almost 24/7, is very friendly and helpful. Although, they don't advertise breakfast, there is a small area where you can have tea or coffee and a chocolate croissant every morning as a...

We enjoyed our one night stay at the Melia Athens Hotel and wish we had stayed for more nights! We were given a free upgrade to a larger room, which was quite spacious, with a comfy bed, jacuzzi tub & rain shower. The hotel staff was quite helpful and gave us lots of information about sights in Athens. If we'd stayed longer we would have loved to try the spa!

Had a short but very comfortable stay at Hilton Athens Hotel. Very efficient check in and welcoming staff. Was accommodated into a beautiful and spacious room, impeccably clean, with modern and minimalist design. For a Greek hotel, the staff is very friendly. Had a great dinner at the roof top restaurant and a drink at the the sky bar. Well made martini under the stars...

I did expect that The Golden Age of Athens would be a pleasant hotel but the hotel, its staff and services have surpassed my expectations. The help desk was truly helpful (Thank you Eleni!!!) The rooms were spacious and very neat as well as modern and the breakfast was one of the best I've had on my travels. Thank you!!!

Stayed here a total of 6 days on trip to Greece. In the centre of 02 metro station(including straight line to airport as part of the Olympic Games requirement) , buses to connect to everywhere. Straight line to downtown. Great neighbourhood. Less dodgy than downtown and Syntagma Square. Safe area at night. Simple breakfast spread. Rooms are a little old, but good enoug...

We always stay at this hotel each time we are in Athens. Staff are nice and always helpful, location is only minutes away from the shopping centre and the town hall where you can watch the changing of the guards. Best thing about this hotel is the rooftop, where you can watch the sunset with the city of Athens in full view as well as the Acropolis. Room is spacious t...

This hotel needs to seriously have an upgrade on its linen, pillows in the room were disgusting, yellow and stained had to get new ones, there was no way I was sleeping on them. The bath mat was in threads, and all mats were like that everyday ! The shower curtain needed replacing it was covered in pink mould and black spots of mould. The shower leaked so badly that...

From the moment you enter, the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are fine (we had a balcony), but the true selling point for us this trip was having breakfast and late evening drinks on the rooftop terrace with views of the acropolis and surrounding area. Plaka is steps away (one block) and Hadrian's gate is directly across the street. This will be my go-to hot...

My husband and I are staying here on our honeymoon and could not be more pleased with this hotel. The staff go out of their way to help you with anything you need, the decor is clean and modern, and the location is ideal. You can walk to all the major sites easily, and at the end of the day, you can relax at this little oasis on a quiet street, away from the bustle. We...

I stayed in Central Athens hotel during winter, room is quite good, clean and warm (I love the heater working good during cool time) The staff very helpful, the have information regarding Athens and Grece, train schedule, taxi, and how to reach tourist area. Absolutely recommended hotel in Athens

We enjoyed our stay at the Novotel Athenes Hotel hotel very much. The hotel is modern, very clean and a great place to stay in Athens. We were pleased that the hotel was located in a quieter part of Athens, but was in reasonably close walking distance to the train station. There were nice little cafes and shops quite close to the hotel, which was also very handy.

this is a top-class hotel with a great history and first rate service. the decor is wonderful and the rooms are very comfortable. one of the great selling points is the upstairs restaraut which has a simply fatastic view of the acropolis (and the rest of athens) that we never tired of. the staff were very attentive and it is no suprise that everyone of importance has s...

We had a LOVELY time in Ariston, mainly due to the following factors: (1) Its location (2) the staff (Sophia & Martina) (3) the room Located a stone's throw from Station Larissis is this beautiful hotel at an affordable price. Easy to find. When you exit the subway station, just look around you and u will see it. It is a corner unit. Being away from the touristy part...

We stayed at Titania for two nights, our first two nights for a Grecian honeymoon. Titania was the perfect place to come to first. The staff's genteel attitude lent an air of elegance to the lobby, and the rooftop meals were delicious and paired well with a beautiful view. We took a 30 euro taxi ride to Titania, (affordable and quick) from the airport. We also sugges...

The Athens Odeon Hotel is located at the heart of bustling Athens. Very close to Omonia metro station and 10mins walk to Monastiraki Flea Market. It is very close to shopping malls. restaurants, fast food joint, ATM machines, Hop On-Hop Off Bus and many many more. One thing I love so much about Athens is about the people! The people are super duper sweet, courteous,we...

A great boutique hotel with a friendly relaxed vibe in the midst of a lively restaurant and bar precinct. Easy to walk to the main attractions of Athens - and the flea markets in the neighborhood are brilliant. Our room in the hotel was spacious and well set up. The mobile they provide for (free!) use is an amazing bonus.

+ close to metro and touristic area + very good breakfast + nice people that are working there - in the evening, you don`t feel safe on the streets near the hotel - the area is quite noisy, there is a bus parking place in front of the hotel Overall, I recommend the place for a weekend in Athens, good value for money.

It's been a wonderful stay in Holiday Inn Athens Attica Avenue Airport Hotel. Actually, I was deciding between a hotel just next to the airport and Holiday Inn when I was booking a place to stay for the night before my flight. And I choose Holiday Inn because it's much cheap (it's like 70 euro cheaper), though it is not so close to the airport. It costed by 20 euro to ...

Our family was in Athens on vacation, and we had a great stay! The staff was excellent - super polite and willing to do anything to help us out. We paid extra to upgrade to the club lounge, and it was worth it - calm and relaxing, great food, good views. Location is a little out of the heart of Athens, but it was about a 20-30 min walk to Plaka / Acropolis, or quick...

Nothing was too much trouble. When we arrived at 0600 with drenched luggage, staff were very helpful. We were dry again and checked into our lovely room by lunchtime - 2 hours before the earliest check-in time. Location is great - within easy strolling distance of Plaka, without the high prices and crowds. We will book here every time we come to Athens.
Cheap places to stay in Athens

I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. It's easy to get most of places to see in Athens on foot. It's very convenient. The rooms and common area were clean and comfortable. And all of staff were very kind and helpful. You can have a free coffee and tea, also use free wifi in your rooms.

The accommodation is really nice. But we had our problems checking in, because the owner didn't send us the check in code and so we had to stay at an other hotel for the first night. In the morning we got an email from the owner and so we could check in. So if you are not getting an email with the check in information, please send an email early enough to get them be...

well... i arrived at filoxenia hotel and they up grade me in a tree stars hotel, five minute walking from there, more close to omonia square. lucky!!! the new one was really clean, fantastic breakfast and all the people spoke english. hotel's staff polite and gentle ready to apply your request... what's else???

I stayed 2 nights and I think the price of 22 Euro per night for a single room by myself is worth it. I even have a mini refrigerator in the room. The location of the hotel is near Omonia Metro station. There is even a bus stop in front of the hotel. The place is clean. Some hotels don’t even have lifts and I have to carry my luggage up to the 3rd floor. This hotel has...

First thing to say : for 33 euros including a decent breakfast in Athens it's a good deal. Rooms are nothing luxury, but they are clean, the bed is correct, AC is working well, there is a small balcony. The reception is quite dark and the overall hotel would need some decoration refresh but if you don't plan to stay in the commodities the whole day.. Wifi is very low i...

The hotel is located across the road from the port, it is across from Gates E7 and E8. It is ideal for an early morning ferry. Also the bus to the airport is just across the road. The metro station to catch trains in to Athens is only a two minutes walk The fare is 1 euro 40 cents. There is a bar upstairs on the first floor, with reasonably priced drinks. The hotel ...

I arrived at midnight from train as I was catching 7am ferry. Reception guy was super friendly good English. And the cafes around the corner open for 1am dinner. Theres a few disco bars around but it was Wednesday night quiet enough. Balcony room ok aircon worked well

We took a very early direct train from Athens to Meteora, says 7:20 am. However, the hotel was at reasonable price level including breakfast which started from 7:30 am. Eventually, the boss, I guess, packed us some food, sandwishes, eggs and fruits. Really lovely fantastic experience. A bit old hotel but value for money. Take few minutes to train station and metro stati...

I suggest that you book from booking.com cus we booked from agoda and it didn't send us any information about the property (only address) so we just got there at the property and couldnt check in(we thought the owner lives next door..). No contact number and email to contact the owner from agoda. Ended up waiting for two hours .. we then booked from booking.com to ...

Because of the compactness of the room, I would only recommend it if you are on business or need a convenient place in the city. The shower stall is very small. You have a fridge and kettle but they don't provide coffee in the room. However, the hotel serves a great buffet breakfast at a reasonable price. The location of the hotel is a big plus. There are restaurants a...

Some people need to get a grip when writing reviews. Did you read the one about the lift's being too small? Well, the sizing is very typical of European lifts. I'm sorry you couldn't fit your kids, husband, prams and the kitchen sink into it, but perhaps like when people move in and out, you could rent a conveyer belt for your convenience and go through the windows...

This hotel is a small, clean, quiet and simple family run hotel at fantastic location. It is really close to Victoria Square metro station, KTEL Attikis (orange bus) and a short walk from the National Archaeological Museum. The staff is really helpful and friendly and the front desk is manned 24 hours a day. I felt much safer in this neighbourhood than I did in Plaka, ...

We selected this hotel as to it closeness to the port. While not perfect it was in a retail area for local shopping. It was a struggle with the bags going to the ferry ( we got a taxi there from the bus stop (from the airport) All the ferries were cancelled our morning and we checked another hotel in case we had to stay the extra night but the Niki (also called NIkh) w...

X96 bus ok This is the message from hotel prior arrival, it's very nice and useful By Public Bus X96 (RECOMMENDED): This is the most economic way. Bus X96 covers directly the route from Athens airport to Piraeus. Buses operate 24 hours and the trip takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. They leave every 20 minutes in the day and from 20.00 pm to 05.00 am they depart e...

Short stay took a ferry and got into Athens late. Staff was nice. Tried walking to the hotel, and is pretty close to the pier, but it is in an alley and we had a hard time finding it. If you have good directions before hand it should be fine. Ordered food pretty late, which was decent. Staff was nice.

The apartment is a good size for 2 of us. We would like it more if there is a small electric kettle and the bathtub changed or taken away. Neighbourhood is OK with lots of small grocery stores, eateries, pharmacies and bakeries. There is a small bakery shop that is open 24 hours downstairs. The nearest Metro station (Attiki) has 2 metro lines (green & red) which is a...

this a very clean hotel, in the port of piraeus. the cruise terminal is at the bottom of the road, the ferries are 10 to 15 minutes walk. we had a double room which was at the back of the hotel, so it was quiet for a good nights sleep. we were offered a choice of rooms chose the room on the 3rd floor because the receptionist explained the other room which had balcony ...

The receptionists were polite, and very friendly yet efficient. One is delightfully lively with English native level English, having been raised in Cornwall, UK. All reception staff fluent in English. Large reception with balcony where one may print boarding passes if travelling with any airline with hostile check in time schedule policies e.g. Ryanair, Wizzair.. En s...

Great place to stay and excellent value for money. A+ accommodation in one of the best residential areas of Athens (next to the US embassy). Suites in great conditions, and great service. Well connected by public transport: Five minutes from the Megaro Musikis metro stop. Well connected to the airport (metro or x95 bus), and the city center (two metro stops to Syn...

When we stay in Athens this is our favourite hotel. The staff are outstanding so helpful and pleasant. In all the hotels we have stayed in the staff in this hotel are the best! The rooms are lovely and the food delicious. Location is good as well only a short taxi ride to the centre of Athens. Our only disappointment was that other years at reception there was a sel...

The Hotel Hera Athens was recommended to us by friends, and we were extremely pleased. The location is fabulous as you can easily walk to all the historical sites at your leisure. Having breakfast, lunch or dinner in the rooftop restaurant with the view of the Acropolis is just magical, especially at night. The staff are all very welcoming and our standard category roo...

We stayed in two different hotels while in Athens. I think Grand Polis was better in term of location and value. Staff are helpful and kind. Breakfast provided. Best of all, they provide free wi-fi, which was accessible from my room at level 5. The room had no good view, but looking at the surrounding of an old city like Athens, this would be common almost everywhere.

The location of Airotel Parthenon is impeccable! Although not in Plaka, it is only one or two blocks away. It is literally steps away from the Acropolis – the pedestrian walkway of Acropolis is only right at the end of Makri. Most of tourist sites of Athens are within walking distance from the hotel. For those who want venture farther out, the Acropoli metro station is...

Absolutely love this hotel. Location is great - on a quiet side street which means you don't hear the traffic from your room, but still v. close to the hustle and bustle of Athens. Rooms are lovely, nice and clean. Showers are over bath and brilliant, generous steady stream of hot water, better than my home shower! Breakfast is buffet style so you have a great selectio...

It was very pleasant!! We came to Athens not for holidays but to have appointments and meetings with friends a several other people. The location is just perfect. Close to the metro station and the biggest Athens' shopping mall called The Mall. However, it is also in a very calm environment. The staff was very friendly and helpful, speaking great English. There was eve...

After 10 days in the islands, we passed by Athens for just 1 day, but it was great. We recommend you get a drink at the bar and head to the open air jacuzzi overlooking the Acropolis for the best sundowner in Athens. The restaurant, also overlooking the Acropolis is a must. The hotel in general, great service, nice rooms and I forgot to mention AMAZING LOCATION!

the hotel is situated a bit out of the city centre, but close to major bus routes. the room was good, and so was the bathroom in general, but the spa bath was narrow and not suitable for two, with all the taps at one end. breakfast was good, but as usual, we had to order decent coffee, as the ready made coffee was not good, and the machine was a nescafe one. we like ...

Best hotel stay on my Greece trip, staff were friendly and helpful, everywhere was clean and smelt good, breakfast was delicious, the pool area and service was wonderful. As a young female traveling alone I felt...

Booked this hotel as the others in Piraeus looked very basic. We were not disappointed. I booked the cheapest room but we were given a magnificent suite with a balcony. We are an older couple traveling as tourists in Athens. Friend recommended the King George. It's location is xcellent for walking Athens and it is only a short walk to The Metro. The room was delightful and very clean. Service is impeccable. Slippers and robes and lovely towels are provided. The rooftop dining room was fabulous with its view of The Acropolis at breakfa...

What a find ! I stayed in Crwone Plaza for five nights and found the place pretty amazing. Situated in a great place of Athens , just 2 metro station (15 mins walk) from Syntagma Central which is a great all day place to visit, where you eat, drink and relax. At first I got a room that had a pretty boring view but this was resolved very smoothly by the lady in the rec...

We took this hotel because of the indoor pool, but unfortunately it was only for age above 16, so our children (5 and 12) couldn't use it, SPA center was expensive-25 euro for a day/ But the people are very useful and pleasant , breakfast was not bad at all, a lot of restaurants in the area, the hotel is 15 minutes from the center of Athens

Beautiful surroundings very Hollywood style of hotel. Private and luxurious. The spa was excellent for treatments perfect for 3 or 4 guests but you do have to book to use the indoor swimming and steam/sauna facilities because of the limited space. The outdoor pool is ice cold which is great when it’s hot weather. The food is lovely but the menu doesn’t change on a ...

the breakfast is very good - many different selections. the people are very nice. it is very family friendly. close to the grocery store, shops, beach, and restaurants in glyfada. its very close to the tram that takes you to downtown athens. i would stay again and recommend it to anyone!

This is the best hotel in Athens. Extremely clean with superb staff, a very nice buffet breakfast in the morning with an awesome view of the acropolis. In a safe area with good dining options such as Nolan right next to it! It's very well located, so much so that we for the 3 days that we were in Athens, we did not need to take the metro at all!. The airport bus stop...

One of the best hotels we've stayed in and at at amazing price. Even though we were only there in transit for one night we were upgraded to a suite l, which was beautiful and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and the staff were super helpful without being obtrusive. I would definitely stay hear again if even in Athens and would certainly recommend it to anyone lookin...

I chosed RB Park because of its location first and then its value for money which.is higher than for other similarly starred hotels. It looks apparently far from Monastiraki and Plaka (THE touristic areas of Athens) but in fact they are just 18 mn far by walk or 2 metro stops. the green line serve Piraeus port (if you arrive/leave from there) and connects with blue lin...

Stayed here for one night & paid extra for day use. Fantastic location to Syntagma Square, best shopping in Athens and walking distance to everything. The room was super comfy. Staff very friendly and professional. Swam in the pool, amazing view of the Acropolis. Breakfast was very good on the rooftop, super amazing view over all of Athens & The Acropolis. Defini...

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this well-managed property! As I didn't know the brand, I was a little suspicious...but I was wrong! The staff are expertly trained at the front desk and hyper-efficient and professional to quickly get you into your room or get you checked out. The room had a side view of the ocean, but actually it was enough and there was fu...

This was the most cosy and intimate and best located ever accommodation I had from all my vacations (and I had quite a lot of them, all over the world). The owner was extremely friendly and he gave us a lot of useful information about what to visit, where to go (or not). I will definitely come back.

We highly recommend this apartment. First of all, it was very clean and had all facilities we needed. The apartment is large so it is suitable also for two families with children. Then, the staff was very friendly and helpful (they let us stay longer than the check-in and check out time). What I loved the most was the fact that whenever I writed a message to the landlo...

Real reviews for hotels
Beware of pick pockets especially when travelling in metro. best to take a cab from or to the airport.
Very rich in history and culture. The National Archaeological Museum and Benaki Museum are not to be missed! We certainly enjoyed the sightseeing at Akropolis and Roman Agora.
Athens city really nothing much, 1 or 2 nights is enough. Recommended to go islands hopping, more fun
Economic turmoil makes Greek people even more welcoming and accommodating to visitors. Go and visit now
Enjoyed the sites and hop on hop off bus but one can tell there is no money for maintaining the city appearance, such as green areas and general appearance of buildings
Not a very nice one, we met pick pocket group of people in the MRT, they tried to help us with our luggage, but after that they tried to open our bag or jacket.
I love this city!!!! Absolutely must go see the Acropolis, New Acropolis Museum, Lycabettus Hill and try local food.
everything are good i Athens peoples are nice and friendly historical structure and building are really nice and fine
Greeks are the most hospitable people I know which makes traveling to this side of the world even more interesting, and people of Athens are just that.
An very old city, with the mixture of modern buildings. People are quite friendly. Moreover, it is the cheapest country to travel in Europe.
Beside visiting nthe historical sites, you can travel to the coastal areas of Piraes and soak in sun.
Like any big city Athens is busy. Great transportation systems - cheap cabs, metro, bus, underground.
I was disappointed. Aside from the main sites, the city is quite run down. The is a lot of vandalism/ graffiti every where.
The old part of Athens (the Plaka) is the best part, although the archaeological museum, situated some distance away from the centre, is an absolute must see.
A good travel country to find foods, transport and the city is known worldwide for its culture and historical heritage.
Clean, excellent public transportation, culture and history. Great City, lots of restaurants, museums to visit.
That is a comfortable stay. There are good restaurants with delicious typical greek food. The facility for transportation for city tour and touristic points, like acropolis, national archeological museum and many others is also very easy.
unfriendly people who tried to rip you off everytime, i will never go back to greece again the islands are not that much different.
Athens is a beautiful and vibrant city which feels rather safe to be in. Many restaurants and dining options are available, and the Greek food is delicious.
This is our 6th visit to this wonderful city. Each time we return we are more enchanted by how it grows and develops.
My second visit to Athens was a very pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the 4 nights I spent here this second time around much more than I thought I would.
Athens is a dirty city but on the other hand rich in culture and history like no other and of course the entertainment the food what else can one say you just have to come and experience it
I felt in love with greek food. The food in this place is amazing. I like the old historical buildings as well but the main attractions gets too pack to i am not sure if everyone prefer crowded place.
The part of Athens I visited was so far the most interesting place I ever saw. My time there was to short to see only a little more then the historic sides but I the suburbs around are very touristic.
many places can go to shopping in Athens and easy access by the metro, but the travellers have to beware about the thief
Athens is a city steeped in history with lots to see and explore. I got the Sight seeing open top bus to get my bearings and then, due to the city half marathon, explored on foot the next day.
Definitely a place to visit to see all the historical heritage. However, one day is enough for that. Otherwise quite noisy and busy place.
Besides stay in Athens, I went to an island call Folengandros, which was the highlight of my stay. The food on the island was great.
The only good restaurant we have been to was "Mani Mani", excellent food and service. Some of the opened area restaurant didn't cook the food on site, and we waited for 20 minutes for cold kebabs we saw the waitress brought in from somewhere else.
I think 3 Nights would be enough for Athens. I loved our stay there and the history as well as the culture is amazing.
