Where to stay in Chiang Rai
Chiang Rai hotels & accommodations
Bandara Resort is in the stage of a soft opening, not everything is ready yet. We had took that into account when we stayed there and you should too. They told me it will officially open 2-3 months or around June/July 2014. It was quiet as we only saw about another 7 guests there.. The place is beautiful though, with amazing gardens and amazing views. Although, at thi...
Hi Chiang Rai is a beautiful Brand New hotel in a premium location in Chiang Rai. you will be hard pushed to beat this place for value for money. nice rooms & sweet small bathrooms with super soft towels. good buffet breakfast serving cereals/toast/muffins/fruit & fresh ground coffee. has a beautiful indoor swimming pool. only downside was wifi was only available in th...
It is Le Meridien, so of course I am picky. First of all it is quite surprising to find such a huge mega resort in a place like Chiang Rai. First day was extremely quiet, almost no clients in the hotel, it gives the experience an uttermost feeling of luxury. The following day at least 60 Spanish people in coach bus and 30 Chinese people raided the hotel... it was dif...
There are few hotels in Chiang Rai that meet a Westerners expectations. Grand Vista does. Security is excellent, room is clean. Breakfast was Thai style with a special Chiang Rai speciality soup, vegetables/salad and egg station. Front desk staff was extremely kind and English was well spoken. For the rate I'd recommend this hotel as the #1 in CR. I recommend booking a...
We chose this resort to avoid traffic and crowd in the city center during Songran New Year. We had made a perfect decision. The room is specious and clean. The resort is near every must-visit outside the city of Chiang Rai. It was also our intention to stay in this resort which is situated in the middle between Mae Sai and Chiang Rai. For us, it was very convenien...
This hotel has been one of the highlights of my travels around Asia. Set on a quiet road about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Chiang Rai, the fairly ordinary entrance road does not prepare you for what waits at reception and beyond. Once checked in the friendly staff guide you through a tropical paradise of plants and trees to one of the spacious and well equipped ...
This is my first time at this hotel and it’s the best of the 3 hotels I have stayed in Chiang Rai. The location is very good in the centre of the traditional part of Chiang Rai. There are plenty of Thai and foreign restaurants nearby. The Night Bazaar is only 2 minutes’ walk and these markets are great affordable shopping with cheap eating options. The room was very pl...
I really enjoyed my stay here. It was very quiet, the surrounding area is very beautiful, my room was awesome, and I was able to immerse myself in total quiet and relaxation. I felt tucked away from the the rest of the world. Upon check in, was upgraded to a room with a big tub on the balcony, which was awesome. I enjoyed hiking everyday and lounging by the quiet p...
The hotel is located in resort environment, I firstly surprised to see the ambient atmosphere with super staff service when I checked in. Chiang Rai is a very nice province upnorth of Thailand, it's fully filled with Thai cultural and natural experiences. Before I booked this hotel, I have gone thru the comments, most of them looked positive to me. I didn't disappoint ...
Room service from Tid Doi Tid Din was by far the worst thing we ate in Chiang Rai. Breakfast buffet was great for a breakfast buffet. There is excellent food in the area, but there is a message/guideline posted requesting that guests don't bring in food, which was disturbing and offensive considering the quality of the room service. The staff were cordial and professio...
the hotel consists of 15-20 small buildings, each having 2-4 rooms, disposed around the swimming pool. a night-lit running track encircles the site. the hotel is on the road to the airport, very close to it (free ride to/from), but a good distance from the city (baht ride). there is nothing of interest immediately around the hotel, so it is mainly a place to relax, o...
I regularly travel to Thailand ... and always visit Chiang Rai. This is the best place in town. Shhh ... the secret is out. However, if you want to be in the thick of the action in town, you will need to sort out transport. Chiang Rai big bike rentals are my prime choice for vehicle rental. Thanks all at Pan Kled
It is a new hotel in Chiang Rai . Room is clean. Staffs are friendly and nice with good service. WiFi is so good. Just only a bit far from the center but walkable. Totally I can say I like Hop Inn Chiang Rai and will come back.
stayed one night before flying out to bangkok. saw the hotel on agoda and was very happy we chose this one as it has a huge lobby, huge dinning room and nice pool surrounded by lovely trees and plants. the room was small with two twin beds but very confortable with fridge, hot water for coffee and the bathroom was well laid out. roomrate came with breakfast and we had ...
the hotel is simple but nice. spacious room even with the extra bed with the nice mountain view(deluxe room.they have a large living room in the hotel building where you can watch tv, read a book or whatever.we stayed there the night before visiting the royal villa and mae fah luang garden and it is very convenient. we were the first one to enter the royal villa at 7 a...
this is my 3rd time staying at the legend chiang rai hotel in 12 months. each stay has been an excellent experience for me. the staff is very helpful and friendly. the grounds are beautiful and well kept up. the rooms are always very clean and comfortable. we have eaten in the restaurant on many occasions and have found each time to be warm, fresh, and very good. i wil...
This hotel is a great pick in Chiang Rai. The location is very convenient, close to the clock tower, a lot of restaurants and a market. The room was bright (only one small window but good light and all in white) and the bathroom newly renovated. The bed was huge and very comfortable. However, the room was not very spacious but enough for our stay and amount of luggage....
The rooms are beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by mountains, forests and paddy fields. There are streams flowing from the waterfall through the resort. Very good environment Breakfast is provided with the resort's own grown vegetables. If I go to Chiang Rai, I will plan to stay here agin. Recommend for Northern Thai style room.
I went to Chiang Rai with a friend for a trip of 2 days 1 night only. Our plan was packed with to do list, thus not spending much time at this place. The place itself is located next to River Kok where you can find lots of restaurants within a walking distance. The view, especially in the early morning was brilliant. The room was clean and has everything I needed. W...
We were only at Diamond Park Inn Resort for a quick overnight stay, so we didn't get a real sense of the place. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were fine. We arrived at the wrong hotel initially, because there are two hotels in Chiang Rai of the same name (Diamond Park Inn and Diamond Park Inn Resort) and the staff kindly drove us from one location to the next:...
Amarin Resort is one of my favorite places to stay in Chiang Rai because it's quiet, relaxing, and the room is always extremely clean and organized. There's not much to do at the resort - there's no view or anything - but it's a nice place to stay. The location is not right in Chiang Rai center, but across the highway, which for me was a benefit.
Wangcome is a pleasant clean hotel right in centre of Chiang Rai, all the facilities which a tourist may require are readily to hand. It's a little dated but clean and comfortable. The breakfast menu could do with a little more imagination, however, there is more than enough choice to see you through to a late lunch
Stayed at Pimanninn for first time, and was more than satisfied w/ quality of room, especially for having been booked at such budget price. Location is not the best in Chiang Rai, but one may walk to several areas of interest w/in 20 minutes. Staff is very friendly, although severely lacking in English communication skills. Swimming pool is rather large, and Fitness Ce...
The place is true to the pictures and I love that it has a really nice and boutique feel to it. The rooms are super new and clean and with all the amenities of a hotel for a fraction of the price (except maybe a lift would be good :)). While it's just a little further from the clock tower (where all the activity is at), the place feels really safe as it is next to a ho...
The "La Vie En Rose" hotel is a nice hotel at Chiang Rai, the set-up, style of the rooms are elegant. I had a room with beautiful blue painted walls, my sons had the same room in "dark purple", but very stylish with a kind of white "stucco". The reception hall and the restaurant (for breakfast) appears cool because of the furniture (white leather chairs). A good hotel ...
Cheap places to stay in Chiang Rai
well, this hostel near is the bus terminal in the city center, cleanliness and staff kindly. but the facilities only the air condtion and solo bathroom which always sink water to the room when you wash body. public toilet. a litter bit noise in the midnight from the motobike engine on the street and bar downstair rearside. free tea and coffee.
One of the best hostels I've been in Thailand. The hammocks space is amazing, I could spend there hours and hours in front of the fire. But the best here is the staff. They are very professional and especially good people. For sure I will come back there if I came back to Chiang Rai, and of course, I'm already recommending it to the travelers I'm meeting. Hope to see ...
The staff here are very helpful and the facilities well maintained. The location is great for getting to everything you want to see and do in Chaing Rai. I would stay here again!
This is a great hostel for anyone. The place is very new and modern and very comfortable. I ended up extending for 5 days because it was really nice being here and exploring thee relaxed Chiang Rai. The staff are helpful and friendly and really great talking to. I met many travellers here and enjoyed the socialising. The locals close by are also friendly so I cannot re...
So first of all, the owner! She is soooo nice and kind! I just had to leave a nice review because of her hospitality. Oh this hostel has a lot of unexpected free stuff: free breakfast (homemade muffins/cupcakes, toasts, jam, butter, cinnamon powder, coffee, bananas) till 11am, free water, free towel (finally I got a towel in Thailand), free bicycles with baskets!! This...
When I arrived at Happynest I couldn't believe how cute and chic it was, definitely the best hostel that I have stayed during my one month in Thailand. I booked a dorm room at a very reasonable price (with breakfast included) but ended up having the whole room and the toilet to myself. The staff members including the owner were very helpful and friendly; they were doin...
Stayed in the family room with two bedrooms with my mum, please note this in on the top floor (4th) with no lift. Also the bathroom for that room although private is across the landing with new bath and toilet but in a semi outside room. The staff couldn’t speak English but were more than helpful with communicating without words! Air con was really good, obviously a ne...
I booked as I was too late to get anything in the city centre. Driving out I was a little bit apprehensive as to how far I seemed to be going and planned on heading back the next day. However I received such a genuinely warm welcome and care throughout my stay that I extended to three nights and only left because my itinerary forced my hand. Sununtha (probably not s...
I'm so glad I stayed at SOOK Hostel during my time in Chiang Rai. It is centrally located (walking distance to the bus station, restaurants/cafes and temples in the city, and right across the road from the Night Market) but was never too noisy. Bedding, bathrooms and common areas were always clean. And the owners are so kind and helpful - they were happy to provide rec...
The place cleanliness is tip top. Staff are very helpful. Two things that need to compliment the staff and the owner. Firstly, offer to help us get stamp and send out the post card for my friend and on the last day, send us to bus terminal. Show us the way to get around the city. Breakfast is provided even though the choice is limited but still a good gesture for the ...
I cannot say enough good things about Baan Bua Homestay. I stayed here for 2 nights at the recommendation of a friend who lives in Chiang Rai and I was so torn each day between sightseeing and never ever wanting to leave this adorable little home away from home. Free waters in the room, wifi, and television on the ground floor rooms. So clean that you could eat off the...
Perfect choice for backpackers to traveling in Chiang Rai. You can stay here for whenever, how long as you want. Room and each toilet/bathroom(separated) are spacious, well maintained. There are lockers and Public bathrooms you can use too. Also has washing machines for 20B, there is some places that could dry clothes in the sunshine. If you need any help or want to bo...
Friendly owner, located in the center of Chiang Rai, really close to the Night Bazaar. Concerning the room, it should really be refreshed (paint, AC, or bathroom), but it's maybe planed. In any case, it was very cheap so it worth it.
We booked 5 rooms for this trip, the hotel easily found just the corner of the main road and took a few minutes to get around with local shuttle car service. Stuffs were friendly and easily to communicate.
This could be one of the best hostels in thailand! the best in chiang rai for sure! Extremely friendly staff, comfortable bed and blanket (that make me hard to get out of bed 😂). Clean kitchen, clean toilet, and great common room, also not to mention the swimming pool area! so cozy! Location wise, 5-10 minutes walk to bus station 1, night market, night bazaar. This...
Great beds, privacy, WiFi , everyone is on their phone so hard to connect with other people, free good fresh coffee from local beans( not instant) amazing front desk staff especially the a.m. young women! Nearby cool cafe and restaurant! Best value for hostel in Chiang Rai! No party hostel!
A pleasent stay for nearly 2 weeks. With easy access to the Chiang Rai city. Possibility to eat directly in the hotel.
We arrived here in the afternoon after go around Chiang Rai, and the staff welcome us very friendly. The receptionist are very good in making conversation and make us forget about the tiredness. We rent 3 bed in dormitory room. The bed are very comfort and clean. Each person get a towel and mineral water. Overall is good, but the wall isnt soundproof, so we hear a ver...
The guesthouse is very well located in Chiang Rai, close to the night market and bus station and not far from city center. Everything in the city is in walking distance. You can rent a motorbike directly from the hostel to go to the less central sites (white temple, blue temple, black house, waterfall) which is very convenient (it s quite easy to drive in Chiang Rai). ...
All the reviews are true. Da da is an exceptional host who tries her best to make you feel welcome in her home. She offers many services for our stay she offered to give us a tour of Chiang Rai (1200thb/total), dinner (100thb/person), breakfast (70thb/person), bike rental (200thb/person) and laundry (25thb/kg). Like other reviews have said Da da does tend to push the s...
Really really good place I stayed in Thailand. The breakfast is very good with reasonable price. And they will help you to order food delivery for the lunch and dinner. We extended our staying again and again. Later we said the only reason we stayed in Chiang Rai for a week which is because of this GH.
The restaurant is on and beside the pond, very wide and the atmosphere is really nice. I stayed in many places for tens of days in Thailand around Chiang Mai, this hotel is one of the best considering the price.
The place was really isolated. In fact the taxi offered to take us back, but it was late and to dark to really see. The hut barely had walls, was dirty, and doors did not close. A rat ate through my bag, next to the bed, so it could find the snack I was saving for the morning. We left after that. Agoda should really check these places out, before placing them on the ...
Nice place to stay. Easy access to almost everything if you have a motorcycle. If arriving by bus, there’s several MC rental places in the buildings around the bus station. Down the road is Big C, Robinson's/Central and further down is the White Temple. Bungalows are a nice size for 2 people. Everything worked and was clean. The WIFI was excellent. Hotel arranged taxi...
The hotel is very cheap. Good atmostphere in early morning. But no shop around this area. Some facilities is too old, should be fixed or changed (my bed has iron comes out from its structure). Staff is good. Overall, it's fair price.
excellent, the only thing is that it is a little far from chiang rai center but if you rent a bike its perfect!
no privacy as bathroom are shared. beds are japanese style not good for old people,
Great little place! The guest house is very basic but very comfortable. The staff is great and is very helpful with any questions I had. The location is good due to being walking distance to central street and most everything. Motor bike rental is available and there are restaurants close by to eat at. Thank you for everything!
The place is really nice and clean. There is a shared bathroom, but since we were alone in the house, this was no problem for us. Ramida and her staff are friendly and the breakfast on the veranda is delicious and a perfect start in the day. The place is located central of Chiang Rai so you can walk to the main attractions. We can totally recommend this accommodation.

Had a 2 night stay here with my elderly parents when touring Chiang Rai. This is a lovely hotel in Chiang Rai city, walking distance to the Chiang Rai night bazaar. Hotel staff spoke good English and were very smiley and friendly. We could feel that they were eager to please the guests with their prompt service and pleasant demeanour. According to the receptionist, the...

General impressions: This resort is set apart from the main street and overlooks the Kok River. For our trip in February, the resort was very quiet, with only a couple dozen other guests from what we could gather. Public Areas: The lobby is spacious and comfortable. We stayed in the hotel for 3 days, and had a lovely time. I have never before had such beautiful views as those from the dinning room. The staff were always very helpful and attentive. The room was very clean and well equipped. I loved my time in Chiang Rai and the surrounding area, and will be using this hotel again.
just few minutes from central Chiang Rai but feeled like stayed in Bali🌴 I would be back my next trip to Chiang Rai . Agree
We only booked for one night in a garden villa but ended up staying for 2 nights and didn't want to leave at all. This place is sooooo nice it feels like you are in a nature with the sound of birds singing in the background all the time. The villa is specious with big balcony, very clean and very beautiful with Bali style. It is also so private each bungalow is close t...
The hotel 10 mins outside Chiang Rai no problem as we had a hire car but could be problem if you don't.I seen buggies at the entrance but never asked if they were going into town. The staff very frendly and helpful the room were excellent clean cosy and spacious. We had 2 teenager chidren and they like the place which is saying something for a peacefull retreat like this...
The Bandu Resort, as of November 2019, is under a new very committed and enthusiastic management, which will definitely improve an already very good structure. Location is excellent if you need to get to the airport as well as for daily trips in the Chiang Rai area. Not far from the city either, although very good wating/drinking options are within walking distance in ...
This is one of the few times when the actual experience of the property/facilities was nicer than the photos (it's usually the other way around). The hotel exceeded our expectations and made for a happy stay. The staff is very friendly and the hotel room was big, very nicely appointed, and clean. The hotel grounds were well kept and very pleasing - quiet, comfortable...
Way WAY out of town. Not worth the money. Not inviting. Room smelled moldy, had no WiFi (although it is advertised as available in rooms) and the sliding door couldn't lock (could move the whole complete door to one side . . .it didn't fit into its original frame). Although satellite TV (none in English or even English subtitles . . . .you have your own decoder, but...
We were a little confused during check in since the payment was not made thru on line. The price thru Agoda was in dollars but front desk would not accept dollars. We also have to deposit 1000 baths for key deposit not mentioned in Agoda plus very unusual for hotel. The rooms had no hand towels or soap for sink. We had half a roll of toilet tissue. The room was not c...
After spending 2 days in Chiang Rai we wanted to get more out into the surrounding countryside and the Manee Dheva was the perfect place for us! We were impressed with the resort and pool - we definitely weren't expecting what we got because we paid such a low price. This place is very good value for money!! The pool, although very clean, has no cover so hats and sunscreen ...
It locate very good place and environment.
It's very beautiful hotel in Chiang Rai. Room is very clean and all of the staffs are very polite. The breakfast have many kind of food that you can choice. And they have shuttle bus to airport and bus terminal for free. They also provide many local tour service for customer. Highly recommend Nak Nakara hotel when you travel in Chiang Rai.
We love this place! The view was so nice wherever you were in this hotel! Because we went to this hotel on weekdays before long weekends started so we felt like we're only customer there, actually they had another customers too but it just what we felt, so we had dinner, breakfast, explored the hotel just only 2 of us and felt like we own the swimming pool which is g...

Family room suite has spacious space, worth the price. A 7-foot King size bed is perfect for family who has to sleep with kids. No floor stepping which would be dangerous for toddlers. Check in/out service is fast. Breakfast is good for everyone. A lot of selections, changing everyday. Gyms is also good but close at 8 pm is too early for nowadays's trend. Kids' clu...

We thought the Black house was the most interesting museum/temple we'd seen on our entire 3 week trip through SE Asia until we found The White Temple and art gallery! Oh Dear, what fascinating attractions Chiang Rai has to offer! Add to that the warm friendly small town ambiance, great shopping, and really good inexpensive restaurants and you've found the perfect vacation paradise!
There are so many Doi and national park up in the mountain. Visiting hill tribes, elephants, the border market, and so on are also possible.
The livestyle of the people is slower than in Bangkok, the song-teow transporters are sometimes taking advantage from tourists.
You can visit beautiful temples, shopping everywhere. The food are plentiful, can find everywhere, most of them cheap and good.
I travelled to Chiang Mai with my parents. We had a really interesting time there visiting The Golden Triangle and learning about the opium run.
Not much to offer in the City Centre apart from the Night Market and the usual stores. However out of the city there are many attractions such boat trips, and visits to Hill Tribes.
There are many activities in Chiang Rai, not just the natural exploring but also the art and cultural in the heritage province
The Black House and White Temple not to miss. The evening market is great on Saturday. Easy to get around here.
Ban Duu, hot springs 20 mins drive north of town are super relaxing. A must. Best hot springs in C Rai.
The weather is nice, much cooler than Chiang Mai. I visited the Wat Rong Khun (White temple) and Golden Triangle.
A very nice city up in the north. Easy to reach from Bangkok and other places by air. Very nice surroundings.
Chiang Rai is a nice, laid-back city, still - thought unfortunately on the way to becoming another Chiang Mai, which has becoming over-developed.
Chang RAI IS MUCH BETTER SUITED IN OFFERING QUALITY NATURE ACTIVITIES THAN THE BNGKOK AREA, WHITH BETTER ACCOMMODATIONS AT AMUCH BETTER PRICE THAN BANGKOK.
There's not many things to talk about Chiang Rai, cause it's just a little copy of Chiang Mai and on the road to Golden Triangle.
Chiang Rai is a lovely place to relax, has affordable delicious food, is cooler than Chiang Mai at night and less crowded too! However, if you are geared for high octane entertainment, Chiang Mai is better.
The city is small and not very interesting. Charming for sure but apart from the White Temple, it isn't really worth staying long time.
Medium size city, not polluted (except in March-April). Unspoilt, relatively few tourists. Intresting and beautiful surroundings.
Not a big city but with peaceful, traffic problem less, food are nice. overall is the very relax city.
A quiet and relaxing town, close to Golden Triangle and Hill Tribes - who once used opium as medicinal purposes.
Chiang Rai is ideally located for trips to the northwest ot Thailand including the golden triangle area.
Chiang Rai is a quiet place and is rather laid back. The people are very friendly and they go out of their way to accommodate visitors.
Whilst in Chiang Rai visited Golden Triangle, Long Neck Village Tribe, travelled to border of Northern Thailand & Burma Mae Sai, Visted White Temple.
Chiang Rai is very good to see, we went to Maesai the Myamar Boarder was very good trip we enjoy a lot there, a lot of things to buy, a lot of atraction to visit it was a very good trip
Chiangrai is in the northern of Thailand beyond Chaingmai the famous city.the culture of people in Chiangrai is similar to that of Chiangmai.
It is a large enough city with plenty of minor attractions. The real attraction is its proximity to the Border and the last "comfortable" stay before getting there.
It is far from Chiang Mai,be prepared to spend some time driving up north, and make several stops in between.
Protect forest and environment, control smoke from fire forest, promote non plastic use for food package
wonderful laid back city with lots of opportunities to travel or sport activities. awesome walking street but commercial night market.
See the Yet Yot Tempel in the center and also the Wat Prew Kaw. Outside CR go to the White Tempel, the Black House ( Baan Dam) of the national artist Tawan Dutchanee on the way to Rachapan University.
Awesome place, hire a driver for the day to show you the best spots. Spend half day at spa, the shopping at the snake place is very reasonably priced compared to other tourist hot spots.
