Chongqing hotels & places to stay

Great hostel. One of the nicest ive ever been to. Staff helpful and helped us book a Yangtze River boat 2 day trip. Food and dining options in hostel are great. The lounge area has a bar and pool table plus DVDs and special events. The hostel is near the metro and close to the shopping district. You have to walk up the hill about 5 minutes. Hostel is located in a tall apartment building on 4th floor across a parking lot. Looks strange from outside but once inside its very nice. Beware you have to walk up 4 flights of stairs and no elevator. The view from the rooms in the back are pretty cool. It overlooks the old part of the city with crumbling buildings and the river. Not much to see in Chongqing itself. It's pretty dirty and gritty but not unsafe. Only things to do are eat hotpot (it's very hot) and take the cable car across the Yangtze River.

The location of this hotel was excellent. Near to Line 3 Gongmao station , a lot of food outlets, a few shopping malls and Carrefour. I booked my local tours through the Concierge Desk. One male staff (BLVE) was very professional on handling our tours. He turned out on our departure morning 7AM to ensure that we got on the tour bus and WeChat us to check if any thing go wrong. He also provided us with tour tips so that we could have wonderful time at Chongqing. Indeed I will recommend my friends to stay at his hotel because we are sure to be take care by your wonderful staff. Please send my regards to him for his excellent service.

The Kempinski brand ASSOCIATED WITH IT'S Teutonic EFFICIENCY has always maintained consistent standards. My first encounter was at Xiamen, China 3 years ago which left me with a good impression. I decided to use the chain once again first at Chongqing, Chengdu then Xiamen again. All the staff from front office manger to door men were equally polite and efficient. The make forward reservations for me and communicated all my requirements to the next hotel. At Chongqing, Wesley managed to source 10 boxes of my favourite cigars and had it forwarded to the Chengdu front desk awaiting my arrival. From breakfast time down to my last pint at the beer haus in late evening, everything was just so. I just like to single out Rock Zuo & Scott Su, front office manager at Chongqing & Xiamen for their Teutonic like efficiency mixed in with Chinese cultural graciousness. Timothe Chabrat for his Gallic Charm and close attention to details and lastly Wesley also at Chongqing for his excellent initiative

I would say this Hotel rests within the heart of Chongqing's downtown and is very convenient in terms of location, transportation, accessibility to the city’s main shopping and commercial district. It is very near to the Central Entertainment District and are both within walking distance from Glenview ITC Plaza Chongqing. Hotel is designed and equipped with modern amenities. Health conscious guests can enjoy a peaceful workout in the Health Club facilities. In addition, I managed to book all my daily trip in Chongqing thru the tour agent, visited Dazu Rock Carvings and the Wulong Karst which is located at Wujiang River downriver of Southeastern Chongqing. Although only spent three night, hotel was very welcoming and comfortable. Cleanliness was excellent. Breakfast was good. I am looking forward to come back to this Hotel when i visit Chongqing again end of this year.

Pros: the spaciousness of the 2 bedrooms apartment was beyond my imagination. Decorations were nice and beddings were really comfy. The Yangtze River review (Nanbin Rd) through every room were absolutely stunning. Staff were helpful. Room service evreyday none like some others. The value was definitely beyond 4 stars. Cons: if you are not familiar with Chongqing, be mindful it is the famous 'hilly town'. And the hotel is located at the riverbank, aka. the lowest part of the city. Going to the CBD means some major hill climbing and involved the iconic public lift you need to pay for. It didn't bother me most of the time, but if you want to carry a suitcase from the hotel to the metro station (only 1.4km away), think twice. Also soundproof was not as good as I would expect. I didn't sleep very well since car and trucks running through the whole night even I was at level 17 (actually 14 since there is no level 4/13/14).

The hotel is situated in a very good location, attached to a shopping mall with nearby access to several more within 5 minute walking distances. Overall, the general feel about the hotel was quite friendly and warm. Upon reaching the hotel, a mere 20 minute journey from the airport, the check-in process was a breeze, done in a quick 5 minutes process, there was even a welcome chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven for me! The staff spoke English relatively well and it was well easy to communicate with them. The room was a good size and had this warm and cosy feel to it. Most of the lights could be turned off with one switch, with the exception of the standing lamps and the curtains which had to be opened and closed manually. There is no bathtub if you're a soaker, the shower was good, although the pressure was quite weak and it took quite a bit for the water to warm up. Location wise, the street next to it is lined with noodle shops, the ChongQing famous spicy 'mala' hotpot restaurants and some other shops run by ethnic minorities. There are also the shopping malls with a huge range of restaurants. A multi plex cinema is also located nearby if you fancied catching a latest blockbuster. If you are a nocturnal traveler, the street located 2 streets away from the hotel comes alive at night. At midnight to be exact, this road is closed off to most vehicles and is lined with makeshift stalls selling food, snacks and little trinkets. A real bargain and eye opener, you can get skewered barbequed fish or squid here for as little as $5 rmb (approx $1 USD). Bargain with the vendors selling bracelets, dresses and shoes to get the best deals!

the hotel is located at the city center that you can walk to a major shopping area within seconds. however, taxi fare in chongqing is quite cheap and you do need to take taxi to most of the tourist spots that the location factor isn't particularly important as long as you live around the city center. I would not say the hotel is old, but it's definitely not new. the lobby is quite ordinary and did not live up to my expectation for an intercon hotel. however, the room is quite nice and the high floors provide you with a good city view. moreover, room service quality was good but not excellent. I will probably choose other comparable hotels that are either cheaper or newer if I visit Chongqing next time.

We (a group of 8 travellers) arrived here for a 2 nights stay before we headed back to Malaysia. After much research, we finally decided on this hotel. The check in was fast and the front desk staff were very helpful. They even showed us how to use the elevator with the security features. We also booked their airport transfer (at a fee, of course) so there was no hassle but a smooth journey to our hotel. The airport transfer service was very punctual and efficient but it could have been better if the driver offered to stack up our luggage! The rooms were big and clean. The breakfast was better than average and their service was very commendable. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel - excellent service, good breakfast and best of all its location was the centre of shopping and food haven!

We were very happy with our visit, besides the fact that the pool was closed just for the short time we were there. Other than that, everything was excellent, the staff was polite and courteous, without being nosy or pushy, very different from most of our other experiences in China. The bed was a dream, the bathroom very fancy. The morning breakfast was pretty good, there weren't a lot of Western options, and all the pastries were pretty stale, but if you like Chinese breakfast, it was great! We would definitely recommend to anyone who is staying in Chongqing and want a break from the "China experience" and want to enjoy the comforts of home, thanks Westin.

superb hotel and value, but has none of the 3 l's. 1/do not belive it is 2.75km from arrivals at the airport. it's a significant cab drive, and i expect the cabbie was straight. 2/it is at the airport. that's the middle of nowhere in chongqing. it's a 10 min walk to the train (after a 30min cab wait), followed by a 40min train ride to down town. worth the experience, but not as a necessity of life. 3/it's a convention hotel, unless you're at a convention there, you're probably at the wrong place. unless, of course, you just want a place to stay somewhere near chongqing. what i will say is that it has an excellent (non-specific chinese, shechzwan style, and surprisingly, sushi) and outstanding buffet for dinner, breakfast. top service, lovely facility. world class although both crowd and (so i expect) staff are a bit sparse. i expect this hotel is a destination. staff were very thin on english, and how to get a taxi or train anywhere else. people come there to be there.

Really really cozy and clean room, I was so lucky that I found David's Deer as my temporary home in Chongqing! This hotel definitely highlights my experiences in chongqing! I was so calm and comfy in the past few days of staying and I truly think David's Deer did a great job in terms of making guests feel like home. All the staff there were truly friendly and kind. I never stayed in a hotel like this before, I'm sure that David's Deer will be my first choice in my next visit in chongqing!
