Since I had to choose if I would recommend it, I chose no, but honestly it's a so/so situation. One could definitely state that the glorious days of the Grand Hotel are gone long time ago - but I personally loved it like that! It really felt like travelling back in time some decades and it gave me some kind of nostalgia like being in a Wes Anderson movie. The bathroom interior is new with a nice designed sink, a perfectly working big shower and the rooms are super spacious! The pool is nice and you've even got a gym. The breakfast is decent, located in the adjoining Palace Hotel, but there weren't a lot of guests in general. That said, why didn't I recommend it? You should know that this part of Vung Tau is more like the party district with girly bars and pubs lining up resulting in old farts looking for girls and drunken Westerners. Consider that if you want to have a peaceful stay with your family. But the real downside was the girly bar/club/whatever right in front of the hotel playing loud music until 3 AM. Closing the window in the hallway helped against the music, but not against the shouting of the drunks... Overall I really loved the nostalgic vibe of the hotel, the amenities were fine, it's cheap for a "Grand Hotel" in general but for Vietnamese standards still a bit pricy. I really feel bad for leaving a kind of bad review and I try to avoid doing so, but this bar in front of the hotel unfortunately spoils this beautiful place!

It is like a hundred years old classical buildeng. Carpes and some interior needs to be updated I liked it anyway since the rooms are big and airy with a very big bed with high quality matress, pillows and bedlinen. Big safety box, big enough to hold your laptop. Took a while to get hot water in the shower. I cant praise and thank enough the lovely reception staff for their help and kindness. The only thing that was negative was a senior woman in the staff I never saw before, that, after reception staff ordered a taxi to take us to our limosinebus at the local bus station..for no reason at all ordered me to pay the double taxifare since it nothing for me. I am an adult that have run multiple companies and travelled 96 countries. No staff in the world shall tell me what to do I have no problem in taking decisions by myself. Will be back in Vung Tau but in another hotel nearby.

An old fashioned hotel with large comfortable rooms. The breakfast and pool was very good. The facilities at times tended to be a bit dated and in need of an update but for the price you pay you can put up with it. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, near the beach and close to the night life.

It's said that the building was built 100 years ago. The facilities are outdated, and especially the bathroom is at the level of motels from over 30 years ago in Korea. However, the single beds in the twin room are almost queen-sized, and the bedding is clean. (It does creak quite a bit.) The room is spacious and close to the pool, which was nice (2nd-floor room). The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, and above all, the location is great. There are many restaurants nearby, and the Vung Tau Lighthouse is also close. The swimming pool has a depth ranging from 1.2m to 2.2m. Perhaps that's why there were no families with children. There were not many people using the pool either. I highly recommend it for those who are serious about swimming. Also, be sure to visit the Grand Massage next to the hotel. It was better than the massage I received two days ago in Ho Chi Minh City. The price is half, yet the skills of the masseuses are excellent. It seems to be affordable mainly due to the handicap of not speaking English and the somewhat lacking facilities. I stayed for one night and got two massages. The breakfast is also decent.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and felt it offered fantastic value for money. The first thing that stood out was how incredibly clean everything was — from the lobby to the room, it was all very well maintained. Our room was impressively large — easily twice the size of a typical hotel room. Designed in a grand French architectural style, it had high ceilings and a spacious layout that made it feel airy and comfortable. While the décor is a bit outdated, you can clearly tell that this hotel was truly grand in its time. There’s a certain old-world charm that gives it character and elegance. The location is another big highlight — directly across from the beach, which made morning walks and sunset views effortless and beautiful. Breakfast was also very good, with plenty of options to start the day right. Most importantly, the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. Their kindness and attentiveness made a real difference. Overall, if you’re looking for a spacious, comfortable stay in a great location at a very good price, this hotel is a fantastic choice.
