Jakarta, as well as Seoul or Busan's top hotels, was much more satisfying. The attentive service of the staff was always felt, and the comfortable feeling when traditional Javanese music was played in the grand colonial-style building was really nice. Although it is a little far from Malioboro Street, it is not a problem as it is a location that can be easily reached by Grab or taxi. Although the prices of the restaurant's food are a bit expensive, considering that it is a 5-star hotel, it is relatively cheap and really delicious. At the breakfast buffet, they also provide food from famous local restaurants along with an introduction to the restaurant, so it feels like a benefit for travelers who don't necessarily have to go to the restaurant to eat. The facility management is also really good, and as seen in the photos, the swimming pool is really cool. It would be even better if the swimming pool was open a little later... It is rare to find a hotel that is satisfying in every aspect, and at this price...?

Service is awesome, rooms are beautiful and feel very recently updated with modern comforts. 12 sockets to charge your phone, etc. We have too often that there are not enough sockets to charge our appliances in hotels. There is even a LAN port and HDMI port on the wall which allowed us to hook up my laptop to the TV and watch our own streaming services with auperfast internet (relatively speaking. It was 100mbps, for hotels, this is top of the line in my experience). The speed of service was astonishing and very accommodating. To top it all off i had the most varied and expansive breakfast I've had in my life. Tons and tons of local cuisine and dishes! Lots of indonesian streetfood i would notmally hesitate to eat at a warung as it might give me stomach troubles (or worse). Ive actually eaten things that i never got to try before. Truly an extraordinarily varied breakfast of the highest quality. Overall, 5 star rating doesn't suffice. I would give 6 if i could. If you ever stay in Yogjakarta, don't even consider any other hotel, just stay at tentrem, you won't regret it.

Upon checking into the hotel, we found out that there was a security check. Our guide mentioned that even the Indonesian minister's car was parked there. We had just finished climbing a volcano and wanted to relax, so we didn't expect to book such a high-end hotel. My wife and I had a 2 week stay (May5-19,2024) at the Tentrem Hotel in Yogyakarta. At every point we were made to feel at home. In checking in we mentioned we could not walk far, and our room was moved closer to the elevator. Our room was immaculate with a king-size bed and was provided daily with ample bottled water for brushing your teeth and use throughout the day. As an American I found the hotel standard very high and Throughout my 2 week stay I had no hygiene or health problems so I could enjoy my stay in Yogyakarta. Breakfast was fantastic with an immense spread of Indonesian and western foods. For example, I had French Toast with maple syrup, eggs benedict which had sliver of salmon on toast, fruit, and the Best coffee you have ever tasted. My wife is Javanese and delighted in the Indonesian breakfast. Occasionally I would venture out and have hot bubur ayam. ..a Great way to start the day. Within a day people knew our names, and we were seated and served. After four days Philip The head chef,approached us and asked us if there was anything special we wanted for breakfast. This was an example of the personal service that Tentrem is known for….and my wife being Javanese requested a special fried rice. Our waiter was Gusto Gontur Rio who proved very helpful. We were invited to stay for dinner and Gusto who had served us breakfast had stayed til we arrived for dinner to show us the arrangement of the buffet dinner. Another very helpful person was Fahmi who insured we had a good breakfast to start the day. All this personal attention made our two week stay very comfortable. Within the Tentrem Hotel is a Chinese restaurant, The Summer Palace. It has the Best home-made soft Tofu. For your convenience and within walking distance is a small food mart where you can purchase tissues and other small items. Yogyakarta is the cultural centre of Java with the two Hindu-Buddhist temples, The Borobodur and the Prambanan located close by. We also bought Batik and found Hamsa Batik on Jl. Molioboro a good place to shop.. So when you visit in Yogyakarta, book your comfortable stay at the Hotel Tentrem .
