Kai Bae Beach hotels & places to stay

We traveled as a family with two teenage children and spent two nights at Awa (We would have stayed longer if we had found it sooner!). The Hotel is situated in Kai Bae on the popular West Coast of Koh Chang and is split into two sections, on either side of the main road. The main resort is on the "beach" side with the Superior Hillside rooms across the road. We stayed in two Hillside rooms on the "wrong" side of the road and were happy with the rooms that had ample space, comfortable beds and large modern bathrooms, as well as all the other comforts that would be expected in a 4 star hotel. Being on the other side of the road did not bother us, particularly at the price we paid (1444 baht p/r/night) and there was a golf cart to take us to our room when we didn't feel like walking. The breakfast was good with a nice variety, catering to both Western and Asian tastes, we particularly enjoyed the bacon, that was always in plentiful supply. The resort beach is beautiful with white sand and no sand flies, which can be a problem on some of the other beaches. Swim in the sea at your own peril as there are a lot of sharp stones/coral and shoes should be worn to prevent injury. However, the pool is awesome and compensates nicely. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, although we would like to make mention of Mr. Bross at reception, who was particularly helpful and Mr. Abel Rodriguez who was a very attentive manager at the restaurant, he is most certainly a great asset to the resort. All in all, a top notch resort and well worth a visit! We also enjoyed the Kai Bae Beach area more than the popular White Sands Beach and walking through the village after sunset, sampling the local fruit, beer and massages was one of our highlights.

The hotel is on two levels with the breakfast restaurant at the top of the hill with access via a cable car. Staff often available to transport guests in hotel buggy, which we thought was very helpful. New restaurant/bar on beach, but only open until 8pm. A taxi can be ordered from hotel reception to take to either Kai Bae village or Lonely Beach for about £1 per person. Can also flag down one of the numerous taxis from the top road. Beware, they only run until about 9.30pm, although you can return from Lonely Beach 'taxi rank' at any time but they will charge at least double the normal rate. You can walk along the beach to Kai Bae village (about 15 minutes to the centre). If the tide is in you can take an easy walk through Porn's Bungalows next door to reach wider part of beach. Fantastic restaurant on beach at Porn's bungalows with excellent food. We ate here often. The sea was warm, clean, and shallow. Absolutely wonderful.

wer nach koh chang möchte und mit familie unterwegs ist, sollte auf jeden Fall zum Kai bae beach. es ist nicht so überlaufen, der strand ist sauber und schön flach. höhepunkt waren immer die baby elefanten :) das hotel ist gerade am aufrüsten, daher gibt s bis 2019 etwas baulärm, aber stört an sich überhaupt nicht, dafür sind die zimmer sehr neu und schön. wir hatten ale 4 zimmer arten und waren mit jeder zufrieden, beachfront ist toll, ob zimmer oder villa :D das rauschen des meeres genial. ausserhalb des hotels hat man auch alles was man braucht: frisches obst, frische säfte und jede menge essen zu super preisen. besser als in den anderen urlaubsgegenden. die staff gibt sich viel mühe. das frühstück ist ok, für jeden was dabei. die küche hatte mir auf anfrage auch extra eierreis gebraten ohne fleisch :)

Cliff Beach is a wonderful resort, it's honestly the best choice for Kai Bae Beach in comparison to others. Kai Bae is only about a mile and a half long and Cliff Beach offers the only accessible sandy beach with no rocks. I was looking into the Awa and White Knot, their beach is terrible, but they offer great views. Our room was great, we had poolside view and ocean view when on the balcony, access to wifi in the room, and breakfast was included and was pretty decent. The resort offers an array of ocean rental activities from boat rides, snorkeling, to kayaking. Cliff Beach does cater to the Russians, they pretty much over took the hotel, were nice and respectful, however word on the street is that Cliff Beach is the only hotel that will accept them. Unfortunately Koh Chang itself really caters to tourist, you won't get a lot of authentic Thai culture, however it is a beautiful place, great parks, waterfalls, and sandy beaches, if you choose the right hotel:)

We loved staying at KB resort. The location was amazing - right on a lovely beach in Kai Bae around a range of restaurants and shops. The resort grounds were nice with trees, flowers, and lovely spaces to sit and look at the view. The Pool was lovely and big (although the water was quite warm). We could not fault the room - it was very clean and a good size. Reception staff were very kind and helpful, although the service from restaurant staff was poor. For the price we paid it was definitely worth it and we would highly recommend!

Coral resort is great value for money for budget travellers! It's not v high end but just right if you want to relax. The bungalows are by the sea and v cosy..also v clean.. The pool is nice and the sunset view from the pool is a sight to behold!! The Kai bae beach area is v nice and lively..good for some small shopping.. Tesco lotus mart is just opposite the resort so it's v convenient.. The most imp part is its proximity to a veg Indian restaurant called emperor of India.. There is a good choice of bars outside the resort so it's quite centrally located..

Stayed at Gaja Puri for a couple of nights on our wedding anniversary, couldnt have asked for anywhere better - it completely fulfilled our expectations. Lovely setting, great rooms, couldn't fault the service or facilities. Its just off the main Kai Bae strip - a short stroll to any of Kai Baes bars restaurants and shops - but it is quiet, peaceful and secluded with an almost private beach. Huge bath and power shower in the room...garden and buildings look great and are well maintained...staff were polite and helpful. It was a bit pricey for us and there are other good options around Kae Bae that are more modestly priced - but we were treating ourselves for a couple of days - and I would say that Gaja Puri more than holds its own in comparison with other places to stay in the area that are in the same price range

Siam Bay is located on a quieter part at the end of Kai Bae Beach. The design of the bungalows is traditional and not concrete and tiles as you could see elsewhere. The "town" is a 20-30 min walk on the beach but their restaurant also offers good food for lunch or diner. Breakfast is sufficient but not great. All in all a totally worth the money experience. If you are out for luxury and indulgence you might want to look somewhere else though.

Worthy; was able to make a last minute week long booking over busy new years holidays for 3 kids & wife. Kai Bae Hut Family Building reasonably priced, offered nice clean room, two big queen size beds, only 20 meters from delightful beach, tasty vegetable omelets every morning. Kids had a blast swimming with elephants on the shoreline and playing in the white sand, wife enjoyed air con, soaps operas and thai news on TV. All the best, Ronny G USA

The bungalows are located right in the middle of the village at Kai Bae beach. Reception and check-in are located on the beach side of the road, the bungalows are just up a hill across the road. The bungalows are situated in a beautiful flower garden with fauna and flora all around. The rooms are authentic Thai style with a double bed, a large ceiling fan or airco and a flat screen TV. The bathroom is equipped with a hot shower and modern toilet. Everything about the property is very clean. Overall a very good place to stay, given the low price, I have zero complaints.

We were a group of three women looking for last minute accommodation and came across Mam Kai Bae Beach Resort. It's a short 5min walk from the main road down to the resort but we all felt safe even in the dark. The infinity pool on the 2nd floor is awesome (go there at sunrise or sunset for a little photo shoot!!) even if a little cold. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed relaxing in the sun chairs in the small private beach area. Can highly recommend, especially value for money was good.

We spent three very enjoyable nights in the Garden Resort. The proprietor and his wife were very accommodating as were the staff. This oasis is on the main road but set back providing quiet and beautiful garden surroundings about 300 meters from Kai Bae beach. Excellent breakfast and coffee. We would definitely recommend and will go back the next time we are on Koh Chang.

A basic room set in beautuful grounds, large room which provides comfort and security. Tv, fridge, shower, large double bed although matress is on the hard side, storage and air con. Cleaned daily could not fault with clean towels, staff are very friendly and helpful, very happy to go back and spend more time. The location is perfect in kai bae just behind 7-11 with a elephant sanctuary is just behind. Loved hearing the little ones trump on occassions so cute. Really enjoyed my stay here. 5 min walk to kai bae beach what more could you ask for.
