“Need Renovation and some areas need to be worked on like professionalism!”
I've stayed at Nha Trang Mường Thanh and it is absolutely gorgeous, much closer to the beach at half the price, better food, exceptional friendly service staff with prompt response when I addressed deficiency such as my shower water leaky to the floor, flexible & accommodating compared to this OLDER Vũng Tàu it needs a lot of work both in terms of building renovation and staff professionalism. I wanna point out the highlights, the room is beautiful, clean and AC is quiet. You are entitle to 2 free water bottles of 300ish ML... Just don't touch the 500ish ML or you'll get charged. The front beach is about 400 meters possibly further and the location is a 5 minute walk to Highland's coffee and eateries making it easy to get around. The first night of checking in was cordial and polite with hotel reception and I wasn't sure if I was able to make it so my wife and son arrived earlier than I did as I was at the Nighmare "The Sóng" Hotel trying to figure out with whether I should stay for the next 4 nights booked there. Read my other review if you're interested... At Mường Thanh, the room was for 2 people, I checked in and told them I am a 3rd person which they did charge me as an extra person which is understandable and I accepted. What I didn't expect was that the hotel clerk was so stingy when I ask for a Highland instant coffee bag and was told the standard is only 2 for the room. However, as I already paid 300k as a 3rd guest and a buffet was included for the duration of my 3 night stay, think I should be able to enjoy a cup of coffee with my wife and son too. Why cheap out on a 5k vnd bag of something like that compared to a buffet??? It makes no sense at all so I was only given 1 bag for myself for the first night. It didn't feel like a luxury hotel but more of a 1 star Motel which left a sour taste in my mind. The next morning coming down for the main floor buffet, I was expecting the same awesome food buffet as Nha Trang... it was soooo disappointing. Just 2 short row of foods (Not 4), the coffee area tea area was crawling with ants or some kind of bugs attracted to the condense milk. The vn noodle soup was ok, the spaghetti pasta with sauce was tasteless like it came out of a can. I had such high hopes... oh well. The next night got weirder when I took out the garbage as the bucket in the bathroom was full and I needed to empty it... so I took it upon myself to remove it and take the bag outside. Went downstair to hotel lobby to ask the reception staffs where the trash container was... waiting, waiting and two men were deep in dispute about something and neither one took a notice of me... Hmmm i thought, screw this, I'll find a bin myself so I walk out of the hotel look to my right and see one. Popped it in, done! When i came back to the lobby desk... those 2 were still disagreeing and walked right past them thinking this is NOT good. Never argue in front of a hotel guest, the image and reputation of your luxury Mường Thanh is like that garbage I took out. The next 2nd morning buffet was moved to the 2nd floor and I didn't know as I didn't see a sign so went to the hotel lobby and the female staff was friendly enough to let me know it moved. Up I went, and oh boy what a difference... the food improved... partly because it was new year and more guests arrived and more space was needed. By the third night, we moved to a larger suite with a better ocean view. We were able to see the fireworks from the hotel which was nice. In summary, MT hotel was a reasonable escape from the Song hotel. Would I come back and stay here... probably NOT unless I had no other options... the facilities is old, the carpet, the walls, if you stand by the elevators and walk towards the glass window view, look down and you will see the outside steel nuts and bolts hanging out holding the glass and structure together. By the way, I love your cleaning staff lady. We didn't need our room to be made, just extra towels
