Charming taverna away from the crowds”
We spent two nights at Platanos to escape the crowds of Chora Sfakion, and it was well worth it! The village is very quiet and local, and the Platanos Taverna is the heartbeat of the main square. The taverna is quaint, the service was outstanding, and the food was AMAZING and well priced. Our room was simple, clean, no-frills and priced fantastically. The air conditioning was great and much needed when we went in the middle of a heat wave. The staff gave great recommendations on things to do in the area to avoid crowds. We hiked to nearby Sweetwater Beach (about a 20 minute drive to trailhead and then a 1.5 mile hike), and we hiked to the church that overlooks the Anopoli village, which was a special treat and one of the most memorable things we saw in Crete. I highly recommend this stay away from the chaos and crowds of this city. It is a charming mountain escape!

The place is simply wonderful. Not only the (freshly renovated) rooms, the atmosphere and the (awesome) breakfast and traditionally cooked meals, but also (and especially) the hosts where so lovely, we wished, we could've stayed longer. Thank you so much for accommodation :)

Die Unterkunft hat nicht umsonst beste Bewertungen! Hier gibt es nichts zu bemängeln! Ein griechisches Bergidyll mit grandioser Aussicht und spektakulären Highlights in der Umgebung! Allein die atemberaubende Anfahrt lohnt schon den Weg! Äußerst empfehlenswert!
