Crete Island Department hotels & accommodations

Avra is a great resort with great service but I would recommend it more for family trips. We went during the peak season in summer and the resort was filled with families and children. We were 2 couples and we did not really need the private pools in our bedrooms as we were out and about most of the time. The beach that Avra is on is wide, big and clean but not the w...

I have to say that at first we were in shock of how nice the people and the stuff treated us! and than when we took a look a round it was so amazing! We came during the winter season so the hotel was relatively quiet and we had the full attention of all the staff present, who were really helpful from the outset. Not only did they sit down with us and provide us with suggestions on the places to visit, they also helped us to arrange all our transportation for the 2 days we were there. The apartments are beautiful and very well equipped. Having breakfast made every morning is a great bonus. Elina and her staff are just perfect. the air conditioned rooms are haven from the August sun and the pool is big enough to swim properly. We had a great stay- there is lots to do nearby (water parks, golf, open air cinema etc) as well as many beaches but you do n...

Our family of four really enjoyed our visit to Crete and stay at the Aquila Atlantis Hotel. As four adults, we appreciated being close to the main square and restaurants. We were able to walk everywhere. The showers at this hotel were the best! The big breakfast was included and omelets were made to order. We wound definitely stay here again.

A lovely hotel in a perfect location just a short walk from the centre of town and close to a lovely stretch of good bars and restaurants. Well located for parking if you hire a car with street parking available and car parks close by. Very pleasant stay with friendly helpful staff and good facilities. Nice pool with both sun and shade, a small beach nearby and larger ...

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We stayed in the executive suites which are just to the side of the main hotel. The hotel itself is far enough away from the main town to be peaceful, but near enough to walk to (15mins) for evening meals and entertainment. Whether you want to buzz of new town or the ambience of old town the hotel sits between the two. The hot...

It was a very nice stay with the very attentive staff that helped in any occurrence. The place is wonderful, the only downside is that it's uphill and if you go without a car it can be a long walk. The rooms are awesome and the views amazing. It has been a very good stay and I would certainly repeat

On arrival at this hotel we were told our room would not be available until the next day! We were transferred to another hotel, no where near the same standard and given a small, shabby, sub standard room the worst We have ever stayed in! It over looked a busy road that along with air conditioning not working made it impossible to sleep! The following day we were tran...

Fantastic staff, Sofia at the reception is really excellent. Hotel has very good buffet breakfast. Really nice garden with palm trees, parking private area, and is amazing view towards the mountains too. Only in the hotel you can hear anything from other rooms... which was disturbing. We got some discount by booking, and even more we got room update for free. So all to...

We spent a week at the Kydon and were wonderfully cared for. Their central location in Chania is a perfect location for visiting various sites and tours on Crete...and their buffet breakfasts are the best we encountered during our 4 weeks traveling in Greece! We can't say enough about the quality of the staff; their prompt and efficient responses to our emails, request...

We stayed two nights here and wished that we could have made it longer. The location in the charming old town area of Rethymno was exactly what a tourist would want of a romantic Cretan town. Less overrun than Chania, equally charming and accessible to beaches. The reception was kind and helpful, recommended great itineraries to nearby attractions and beautiful beaches...

For one night in Rethymno old town this was a very interesting property. We enjoyed a last night having travelled around western Crete. We had the small room which was adequate for one night. The larger rooms are more suitable for a longer stay. Really pleased we had this experience

Hotel is located just 5 minutes (or less) walk away from Heraklion port and the main “market street”. Food options around the hotel are aplenty. Public buses (bus stop) is just a perpendicular corner from the hotel. My mom and I walked everywhere and it was fun. Staff was polite, helping us to brown bag our breakfast when we had to go out early to other parts of...

We stayed in a large room with a balcony overlooking the Harbour and I'm not sure we could have chosen a better location. Lots to see and do with bars and restaurants on the doorstep. The double glazing kept out the noise late at night and we would definitely stay here again.

Mario, Catherine, Maria and Alex made our stay a memorable one. They couldn't do enough to ensure we had a great time. We had visited Crete before staying near Chania, but wanted a base to visit Spinalonga, and Elounda didn't disappoint. As well as the lovely Elounda Garden Suites, there are many excellent restaurants - particularly The Hope and Palio Kantouni, both a ...

I highly recommend to stay in Lato Boutique Hotel if you go to Crete. The location is close to bus station, port and airport and room is clean and cozy. Besides, the staff is enthusiastic and do a great job to facilitate our trip. I'll choose Lato Boutique Hotel again if I go to Crete next time.

We had an amazing time on Chania thanks to Olga at the front desk! She was extremely helpful and had great recommendations for restaurants. Location of the hotel was great as well. Walking distance to the old port and from the bus station. Would definitely stay there again

We just came back from a 5 night stay at Filion. We had an amazing 1 bedroom suite that was huge and right in front of one of the pools. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated with a small fridge, fresh fruits and a bottle of wine waiting us and the vicinity to the pool made it so easy to take the kids for bathroom breaks or change their bathing suits etc. The rest...

New hotel with modern rooms and very comfy beds - clearly a step up from what you usually get in this price range. The owners are extremely nice and warm-hearted, so it felt a bit like staying at friends. Just one suggestion: The rooms could do with a bit more storage options (e.g. wardrobe). However, the fresh and airy room design made largely up for this. We will ...

set on the hillside overlooking the city and sea and its own little villages of shops, restaurants, it was great to relax, by the pool and recuperate. The staff was great and very helpful in every way, and as I had a hip problem at the time they put us in a unit close to the road which was spacious and great views, so thank you very much. Also, great wifi and satellit...

The place is simply wonderful. Not only the (freshly renovated) rooms, the atmosphere and the (awesome) breakfast and traditionally cooked meals, but also (and especially) the hosts where so lovely, we wished, we could've stayed longer. Thank you so much for accommodation :)

I arrived off the Ferry at 6am expecting to drop off my bags, but I was greeted and taken to my room immediately. Imagine that after travelling all night! Nothing is any problem to the friendly owners of Pension Anna. Anna is there with helpful information and delicious Greek delights to share with us. The hotel is attractive and spotlessly clean, light and shining. ...

Despite not being quite what we expected, as the hotel is the village rather than being in a village, our 6 night stay turned out to be very enjoyable. Our room was clean, the staff were all very friendly and helpful and the ambience of the place was outstanding. The pool was a great asset and the outside dining area under the wonderful fig (not olive) tree canopy trul...

Spacious rooms, cleaned on daily basis, well equipped kitchenete including toaster. The pool was nice with plenty of sun decks and umbrellas, never difficult to find a place. There is a little playground for smaller children we have used a lot. The restaurant in the hotel serves very good Greek meals. The only downside is beach in Maleme which is not realy suitable for...

Very nice place. Tranquil and charming. Small business of Kostas and Maria who do their best to make your stay perfect. Beautiful beach is just at hand. Small tavern serving guests very good home made Greek food. We rented two level three bedroom apartments and it was very good combination of price and quality. Will certainly come back there again. Thank you Kostas and...

The Eleni is a small family run apartments and you are made to feel part of the family - although the area, Analipsi, is quite quiet there are plenty of tavernas and the family have one across from the apartments called Zorbas, where the food is second only to the service. The apartments are very clean, a good size, quite traditional in style and about a 5 minute walk ...

Ostria rooms ist a great value choice for travellers, that don't like big and/or luxury hotels. In ostria rooms is a very familiar athmosphere. The location is (really!) next to the beach. It was a great stay. We will come back! Thank you for your hospitality, maria!

On quieter back streets yet only short walk to Fort , restaurants and sites of interest. Family run, brothers both helpful and contacted me on booking via email with confirmation of booking with useful info on how to get to hotel. We taxied both ways to airport 12-15€ Small room and bathroom

The location couldn't be better. Right next to one of the best beaches on Crete. The rooms have the bare necessity but are cheap and clean. No problems, friendly staff and close to good restaurants. Go there and try to relax because that is what Crete is for.

As ever, the lovely people of Crete make staying at the Axos a pleasure. Very clean and accommodating. Very good value for money and in a nice quiet location on the outskirts of the main Rethymnon town. A nice pool and modern decor with very friendly staff.

Very good value with dinner and breakfast included. We never really do "all inclusive" or like to eat in the hotel, but we arrived at 8:45pm on a delayed ferry and were ushered downstairs to ensure we got to eat before dinner finished. Great service, walking distance to everything you need and they have a mini gym - enough for a creative workout!

I was for vacation in Heraklion and a friend of mine recommended Pasiphae Hotel.the room was very clean, the staff (George, Elen Dimitris) was the best, very generous people and they always try to make you feel comfortable. The hotel is very close to the airport and the bus station (city bus as well as the station for ChaniA)... Thank you guys , it was an excellent...

I went to Zaros to hike, and I must say Idi is well-located for a good night sleep after hiking: Idi is just a stone throw away from the entrance of the Rouvas Gorge hike path. It's about five minutes away from Zaros village, so getting supplies isn't difficult either. The staff was amazingly helpful and ever friendly. In terms of the rooms, mine was basic but comforta...

An unforgettable holiday! The room (master suite) very cosy, super-comfortable and spacious and a large terrace with a fantastic view. Quality toiletries, fast wifi, a Hifi and a TV sets guarantee entertainment in the room and are especially important in winter, as the resort is open 12 months a year. Breakfast is entirely home-made and all the fruit, vegetables and eg...

The Ionia Suites should be proud of their whole staff team. They are all so friendly and helpful. The beds are comfy although the pillows could be just a bit better. The whole place is exceptionally clean - cleaned by yet more super friendly ladies. The breakfast is good although I would have liked more cooked and fruit options personally. I would definitely stay h...

We stayed at Pepi Studios one night on our trip from Chania to Iraklion and we enjoyed the location of hotel. It was in the heart of old town, not too far from beach and Venetian fortress. You can find very nice shops with most known brands from old town of Rhetymnon. Good place to shop quality.

Beautiful setting with fantastic views of the mediterranean, Frida Apartments is a family friendly venue. Short walk from beaches and restaurants with Chania Harbour and old town accessible via a 30 minute walk or 5-10 minute taxi ride. Highly recommend.

Location is good, evening concierge was kind and very helpful. Wifi doesn't work, hot water doesn't last long. It rained while we were there and must have leaked because the floor was covered in water. The day time concierge was not helpful at all. The breakfast is very limited.

We travelled through Crete and by far, Eli the receptionist was the best we've come by. She went ABOVE and beyond to make our stay special. Her knowledge of places to see and places to eat made our time in Crete perfect. Do not hesitate at all to visit Molos Bay and deal with Eli and if she's not there Despina is just as awesome. Both 5 star in the business!

We spent 13 wonderful days here. Great staff, extremely helpful providing best services available! A very special thank you to Michalis, who to our mind deserves to be praised for his very special attitude to the property he works at as well as his attention to the hotel guests. We shall definitely be back

I've marked this down because when a place advertises itself as 'self-catering' and with a 'kitchenette' one does expect a cooker of some sort even if just a microwave or two rings. Antics Casa has nothing except a kettle and fridge, though plates and cutlery are provided. When we asked, there were mysterious references to a previous occupant having "an accident" with ...

Right in the middle of the old city. So good we stayed longer. Our room was upstairs with our own private balcony, rare find. For the extra night we had to move downstairs, our hosts moved our bags once the room was ready while we were out as not to lose anytime. Family hosts terrific, knowledgeable, helpful. Absolutely recommend, upstairs rooms, very quiet, roomy Down...

The Dream Art Studio was a very pleasant surprise. It's character and style matches that of old Chania city. My room was beautiful, featuring exposed portions of the natural sandstone walls, a glossy emerald-colored hardwood floor and an old, thick wooden beam floor running wall-to-wall above the centre of the bed. The room furnishings, especially the light fixtures, ...

Can't say enough about how much I enjoyed my stay here. While my travel plans only allowed for a one night stay at Hotel Polyxenia, it will surely remain memorable thanks to the extraordinary kindness and friendliness of John and his warm-hearted family. The spacious, spotlessly clean rooms have a luxury quality and are a comfortable delight. For me, the rooms really ...

Well-located in a beautiful old Venetian villa steps away from the waterfront harbor of old town Chania, Casa Delfino was a perfect place to start out our visit to Crete. The rooms were unique and cozy, and the breakfast homey, set in the beautiful courtyard. The staff were friendly and very helpful!

if you are not on a budget holiday, this is the place you should stay. from room stay, activities, especially the food. awesome!!! but breakfast everyday for 7 days is tiring. always the same kind but fortunately, dinner buffet is changing every night. Hope i have the chance to booked this place again and bring my mom and sisters here.

Fantastic location amongst the shopping area, this hotel was perfect for us. The rooms were nice and spacious--we had a seating area separate from our bedroom. I paid extra for a balcony which was nice and the building has an elevator, which I'd heard is rare for Rethmyno due to the preservation of the Venetian architecture. The breakfasts were our best all trip--cakes...

The staff was friendly from the first glass of orange + pomegranate juice through the final goodbye. Their language competence was excellent and were open to talking with me in my (basic) Greek. I booked this hotel with seasonal discount. However, all services such as drink bar are not included.Since the price of room was admended thus they offered you a room which far away from reception without any seaview .Old housing decoration and dark made you uncomfortable. well, its was not the very best hotel we stayed in during our vacation...they sell themselves as 5 star but that is debatable. The rooms are very dated and the bathrooms need serious refurb. An excellent hotel with all facilities at hand including a fabulous sandy beach. Rooms large and well appointed with soft comfortable bed. Rundown hotel. Maybe once upon a time was a 5* but now barely can give 3*. Room door broken with a cheap fix, cheap fix of patches of fallen paint from the ceiling, under the bed you could find mars and peanut packets from the previous guests, air-conditioning filter filthy( have taken photos to prove if needed). Cheap shampoo and shower gel. Food worse than a 1*. Pizz...

Ambience, peace and quiet, friendliness of staff,a whole host of activities for every age group...feeling of privacy cos resort is so extensive.Beaches, pools,Sport facilities...something to cater for EVERYONE.uSincere thanks to Managers and wonderful staff

This place was absolutely fantastic. From the location, to the spacious room and that amazing balcony that overlooked the harbour and lighthouse. I absolutely fell in love with Chania and it will not be the last time I stay at this boutique hotel.
