It is safe, clean and very beautiful, highly recommend the place.

Great for solo travellers meeting new people etc. Good breakfast, comfy / clean mattresses. Always stuff going on during the day and evening. Alex at reception is a great guy, really friendly and helpful.

I stayed 2 nights at Maracuja and it was great! The staff is lovely, the hostel is clean and very well located : 5min from the historical center. The hostel has nice terrasse on the canal to chill and to have a nice caipirinha at sunset. I definitely recommend you to stay there!

The couple that owns the hostel is very sweet! They don't speak English but do you know a little Spanish you can communicate a bit. Breakfast is fruit, sandwiches, coffe, juice and yogurt. The location is so nice,200m from the beach and metro station and it is safety area in Ipanema area. Staff are really nice and kind and they can arrange the tours. Hostel offered airport transfer so no problems with finding the hotel's location. Loved, loved, loved every bit of my stay at Books Hostel. The place has a great vibe and throws some kick ass parties. Great place to meet people and hang out. I ended up staying for a total of 5 days and had a blast.

After a long trip from Peru, I stopped by RDJ, Brazil to relax. There’s some complication at first but Carol, Andres and Addison is a professional staff and making sure it’s all settled and making sure I am comfortable in the stay. Great locations and great crowd to be around with. Definitely great stay and worth every penny and time staying here. Highly recommended.

Look like a very high end hotel for very cheap price

This was my very first hostel stay and I'm glad I stayed with discovery. The friendly staff made my stay really comfortable and the fellow hostelers were also very amiable. Nevertheless, I must add that staying at discovery really enriched my Rio experience (travelling literally half way across the globe).

The location is great, in fact you can have a look at Copacabana beach just when you step out of hotel entrance. The staff is very friendly and the hotel furniture is new, which is a rare find in the hotels nearby. The breakfast options are good too. Its a small hotel, but has a lot to offer.

I had not stayed in Downtown Rio before so this was a first. This hotel is perfect if you are not a beach bum and prefer to visit historical places of interest and pubs and restaurants. It is my first time to try staying in a backpacker's place where you share room with others. The place is decent and nice. People are friendly and welcoming. Location is nice. it is near supermarkets, restaurants and beach. Love the area!

The location was good. But the AC in the room was not properly working. The compressor seldom works. The morning breakfast was also not good. Overall this hotel is not value for money. The only best thing about this hotel is the location.

The room was renovated. Everything seem new and clean in room 213. You can even smell the in the morning the cleaner was using bleach, which is a plus. Its in a safe area and on catete st which is in a great location, and right next to the subway.

The reception guy is unapologetic, we booked and paid for Bohemian tour a night before the tour but he sent us to Buzios beach. The whole day of that tour is ruined for we spent much of traveling 180km from and to Rio. Upon reaching the hotel, the reception guy just say sorry without sincerity.
