Surat Thani Province hotels & places to stay

Stayed there on the 22nd till 24th December 2018. The room was very neat and clean. Location is walk-able to the street/shops. The hotel seems very new. The only issue we had was the time of checking in and for the coupon they've provided for the foods. We've booked for 4 rooms and requested to get the room side by side. So it took them about 45 mins to sort the room and still we didnt get the room near each other. After a long journey fr Surat Thani, you just want to lie down on the bed when you reach the hotel. We've already inform what time we'll reach and everything. I think staff should be more organized and alert next time. But overall all okay.

I can't say enough great things about this hotel. Stylish, upscale but comfortable, the resort strikes a welcome balance between 5 star service and laid back beach vibe. The breakfast is phenomenal, and included if you book on Agoda. For those who didn't leave the laptop at home, the WIFI is strong throughout the entire resort. This means catching up on emails or downloading a new kindle book right next to the pool. Another great feature of the hotel is the location, away from the main Chaweng village. The beach out front is private and secluded. The Fisherman's Village is a few steps down the boardwalk, which has a string of low-key restaurants and bars. It maintains an element of charm, unlike the Cancun or Kuta beach vibe of Chaweng. The standard sea facing room was very large and boasts most of the amenities of the upgraded rooms. I would save your money and spend it on an all out splurge at their restaurant (oysters, seafood towers, delicious lamb, must try prawn salad). One thing to note is that the hotel is pretty quiet during the low season (great for couples looking for a good price), though the bar and nightlife scene were virtually nonexistent. I'm not sure if this is also the case in Chaweng, though they probably have more hotel to hotel foot traffic there. Definitely worth every penny and for us, was the best option for a great vacation in Koh Samui.

Absolute heaven from beginning to end! We had booked to stay in a second floor, balcony jacuzzi room, but were informed upon arrival that we had been upgraded to a top floor ocean view jacuzzi room. The wonderful staff informed us they always try to upgrade where possible. The room was both rustic and luxurious and every need had been considered- the insect repellent and travel adaptors provided in the room were particularly helpful. The 6pm turn down service was especially thoughtful and staff came round with treats made in the Silavadee bakery. The breakfast that is included most room rates was superb and far exceeded any hotel buffet we had before. A wide range of cooked breakfast dishes could be ordered from the menu. The pool areas were fantastic, one of which has a bar to order drinks, and provided stunning views out to the sea from the infinity pools and private beach was wonderfully quiet, a luxury on Koh Samui! We dined several times at the restaurant The Height, and enjoyed of the most delicious Thai food we had during our stay on Koh Samui and found it priced similarly to other restaurants in nearby Chaweng and Lamai, both of which are a very short taxi ride away.(Silavadee also run a regular free shuttle service) Our only complaint would be that the spa facilities are incredibly expensive. Though the aromatherapy massage we booked was probably the best massage we have ever had, we still found the prices eye-watering even for a spa and especially by thai standards. We also agreed that had the prices been lower, we absolutely would have booked more treatments and likely spent considerably more overall were they value for money! The best part of our stay were absolutely the wonderfully welcoming staff who were not only helpful and informative but went out of their way to make sure our stay was as fantastic as possible. We truly can't wait to return and absolutely plan to as soon as possible. 10/10!

From the second we checked into the hotel, almost everything about this hotel was just amazing. We were super early when we arrived, but the hotel staff gave us a place to change into beach clothes and led us to the beach, introduced us to the bar staff and got drinks in our hand. It was a good start. The Sala Pool Villa was very nice--though the completely outdoor toilet can make one a bit bashful. My wife and I normally do not use resort pools, because we find them a bit loud, too public and generally just not our cup of tea. In the pool villa, we spent at least an hour each day in our pool and it was lovely. I've taken my time getting to this point, but the food is absolutely unbelievable. Start off your day with the Eggs Benedict (some of the best I've ever had), move on to the stir-fried pork or beef with basil for lunch (and if you're feeling very hungry, don't miss out on the amazing appetizers), then shift gears to one of the amazing curries for dinner. I had the softshell crab curry 3 times during our week stay--yes, it was that good--and it never disappointed. There were very few low points, but: - our room smelled of smoke when we arrived. The resort was completely booked to capacity, so the management could not move us, but they at least had housekeeping stock us up with good-smelling incense oils and candles. - the cleaning of the pool on our arrival left a little to be desired. Given that it's in a garden, we can understand having little bits of plant and flowers leftover, but ours had a few too many stray hairs from previous guests (gross, yes, but easy to take care of). - the beach bbq night was a little silly for me. The resort restaurant does such incredible food, it seems like a real waste and a shame to eat something simple like grilled snapper. - Cheong Mon is SUPER quiet, and Sala is the only thing great about it. If you want a walkable resort town with off-property options, this probably is not your place.

Among all the hotels i have stayed, SALA Chaweng is the best of the best. With great hospitality and very good view, you will experience unforgettable stay in this hotel. Starts upon check in, the staffs already impressed you with special offers for the soap, pillows. Everything will be prepared to suit you. I booked for partial sea view room and it has great view. The huge window can be opened so you can enjoy breeze while sleeping. The breakfast offers miscellaneous foods and drink and you can order their special menu. Definitely will come back to this hotel again

Sensimar is a wonderful hotel and perfect for relaxation. Chefs are the best of the best in Thailand and a couple of us enjoy the foods in the hotel so much in these 4 days. Poor us to visit Koh Samui at the perfect rainy and flooding period. We stayed in the hotel completely 4 days with no where to go. We stayed in a pool villa but we were not able to enjoy the pool at all. Room is clean and bright. My opinions are hotel should have more umbrella in stock. Heavy rainy day is not romantic at all. A couple of us share an umbrella may not work all the time. Even I request for an extra umbrella, only broken one is available. Moreover if hotel can assign more activities especially during the rainy day, that will be perfect. Thanks for Adam and his staffs helping us to arrange airport transfer and massage transfer. We wish to visit Koh Samui again very soon.

This was our 2nd time in Koh Phangan but by far the best trip, largely due to staying at the Coast Resort. The hotel is beautiful designed, with a modern aesthetic, by the owners whom I’m told are all architects. The resort really caters to a younger and hip crowd; I’d say mid 20’s to mid 40’s from what we could see. (We like that it's not a family hotel) We upgraded to a fantastic poolside suite facing the beach. It was well worth it as it made trips to the pool (and pool bar) a breeze. The room featured a spectacular ensuite bathroom with an open concept shower. The dual shower heads were a really nice touch! Live DJ’s would spin pool side in the afternoon till’ about 7pm. This may have been because we were there during the Full moon party – I am not sure if this is a regular occurrence. It really energized the place. Everyone was very social and having a great time. The open air restaurant next to pool offered both Western and Thai cuisine. We stuck to the Thai options and it was some of the best food we had during our entire trip to Thailand. The buffet breakfast could be improved though, some Thai options would be nice. The fitness room was really well equipped too. Everything one would need to keep up the routine while travelling. We can’t say enough good things about the staff. They were all very friendly and good at what they do. Communicating in English was no problem at all either. We did think that the rooms were a bit sparse in their furnishings however. This may be due to the clean line modern look of the space. But, a lounge chair would have been nice to relax in. Also, it did not have a desk or task chair in the room to set up our laptop on. These items are typically “standard” in a hotel room so I really think the owners should incorporate them. But all in all we still did love the space. We both highly recommend The Coast Hotel and we would definitely only stay here ourselves if/when we visit the island again.

I first visited the Ark Bar for the day while staying at another 5 star hotel. I liked the hotel so much I actually left my other hotel (prepaid) and booked a room at the Ark Bar. The restaurant has a wide selection of food and is priced cheap and it taste GREAT! The hotel has an amazing pool and beach with a DJ playing along with Saxophone and Drums on some nights. there is tons of people and the drinks are flowing. Its a great atmosphere. If you are old and don't care for crowds and loud music, then DONT STAY HERE! There is loud music playing until 2AM every day and people walking up and down the property to come and go to the beach parties. The sound system easily pierces through the windows of your room. I don't mind the music and I love the atmosphere, so for me it was fine. The hotel room is a 3 star hotel. The bed is comfortable, and they are VERY STINGY with sheets and TOWELS! If you expect to get an extra towel, FORGET IT! I was at the pool whern I was eating and there was a spot flood shower. After I finished eating I brought my wet towel to them to change and they told me "Sorry Sir it's one towel per guest per day". I couldn't believe my ears. I was a guest at the hotel and they won't even change my towel?? It upset me actually and I wanted to post it here. Also for some reason the WIFI is guarded like Ft knox. They change the passwords every day and getting it from the staff on the phone is impossible as their English is not the greatest. Each time I called, I was forced to walk all the way to the front desk to get the new passwords. They need to ease up with the WIFI and perhaps just use your room number and last name, that is what most hotels do. Its just WIFI! Back to my review. I ate dinner on the beach and it was amazing. The BBQ Fish was awesome and drinks by the beach watching the fire show was PERFECTION. So this hotel has great benefits and I guess they out weight the few stupid drawbacks.

Awesome hotel with great facilities, truely a resort feel although not huge and easy access to the outside world. The beech it is on isn't the best, not the softest sand nor compacted so an effort to work through. It really needs a good beach comber to improve it. Down the way there is the fishermans village which has lots of restaurants and pubs, so many that if you want to watch a particular game, one of them will be showing it. It also means a short walk along the beach gets you any cuisine you could want if board with the hotels pretty good restaurant. The buffet breakfast is pretty good western style selectio, excepting the typical thai issue with sausages that are more like hotdogs. For a more party like experience you need to go to somewhere like chewang beach, arc bar is a party on the beach seemingly everynight and further back into town there is green mango club which stays opens later (with lots of other bars including connect 4 and pool bars) and sound club along the way doesn't seem to close for the after, after party. The area has a great mix of backpackers, locals and wealthy Asians from surrounding countries. If the above sounds more your thing, then this area is probably the only bit where this hotel falls down as taxis seem to charge a flat rate 500 baht (about £10) to foreigners to go a little or far away, in Bangkok it would be a tenth of this or less for the 10 minute or so journey.

We arrived at the hotel within 2 hours of booking. Reception had all documentation ready and were able to put us into our room straight away. It was light, airy and clean with a view of the ocean. Ground floor rooms were set around the pool with their own private swimming areas which more than compensated for losing the view of the ocean. The restaurant offered wonderful views of the beach with its' floor to ceiling glass panels. Sipping cocktails on the terrace and watching the sun setting was a great way to start the evening. Whether on the beach, in your room or in the restaurant service was friendly prompt and efficient with the staff doing their very best to accommodate all requests. Check out was at 12:00 noon. We had a late night flight so the staff arranged for us to have a room for an hour where we could shower and freshen up before we left to catch our flight. From start to finish our stay was relaxing and pleasant with two very happy clients leaving to return to the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Myself and my wife had a brilliant couple of days here. We booked villa 7 as it looked to be the best and weren't disappointed (the price is a reflection of how good it really is). The room service for meals including breakfast really makes the stay out of this world, being able to enjoy your meal in your own private villa with the incredible view is absolutely priceless!. It made out stay. The Burmese general staff are very polite, welcoming and attentive, some of the best we've come across. The male Thai receptionist who I believe only works evenings is really really helpful and a very nice guy. The 2 blonde day reception staff come across as half asleep and could do with perking up a little, especially the Australian girl who doesn't brush her hair. The 2 western ladies at the beach bar/restaurant are incredibly nice and genuine, although we didn't spend much time there they really made an impression! Almost all staff are incredible! We'll definitely return! Thanks!

I have walked across whole stretch of Lamai Beach and I can say with confidence that our villa is best in term of design and layout (just in front). Now of course there is security issue with staying just in front of beach, other unknown people can just break into your villa at night and tide issues. There is no direct way to just walk out to the beach (had to jump to sand via other spots), so it wasn't safe enough. I wished the hotel provide some small ladder or access that we could remove at night. Our kids just loved playing at beach in front of the beach, and we could just watch them from our villa. The beach was nice. We did really love our stay. Pricing wise, I think they should be a bit more aggressive, especially in low season. It was pretty pricey. Other beach front villas are all empty.

i wanted to take my girlfriend on a holiday that would take her breath away. although i did keep the hotel a surprise (and may have even played it down on the way there!) the entire experience upon arrival; the location, hotel grounds, service, private beach/bay, and finally the awe inspiring villa itself ended up bringing her to tears of joy and gratitude - mission accomplished! you'll see why she had this reaction when you get there. value is everything to me. whatever i pay, if it's a little or a lot, i expect to get what i paid for. if it is a little, i expect little and i am happy with anything extra. if i pay more though, my expectations grow. i wanted to avoid all of the "fakes" that pretend to be 5 star, but was at first nervous about paying my way out of the nerves associated with poor quality...my bank account usually doesn't permit me to do so. having been to banyan tree bangkok, and now banyan tree koh samui.... i don't regret a thing. pros: everything. might sound over the top.. but it is everything you see in all of the pictures and more. we were in a villa that was almost at the top of the mountain and had uninterrupted views of the southern coast of koh samui. it was completely private (it was clearly designed to be this way), and very peaceful. every whim had been thought of and provided. the grounds are huge and you can get complimentary buggy rides wherever you need to go (breakfast, private beach, lobby etc). our host (butler?) was very helpful, and all staff speak english very well. hammock, 2 different sets of sun beds on either side of the villa, 3 separate divisions in the villa (lounge area, bedroom, and bathroom). fresh fruit every day. extensive menu for both in room or restaurant dining. "activities" every day!!! yoga at sunrise/sunset, snorkelling, kayaking etc etc... all complimentary!!! the breakfast was typical of banyan tree, completely decadent and wide ranging. everything you could want at an extremely high standard

After 3 horrible nights at the Seashell Resort next door. We absolutely had to move out of that shathole. We are a couple times at the always busy Sairee Restaurant and saw it had 2 awesome pools and the staff were friendly. We booked a poolside room and it was great. The room itself is small but it didn’t matter. The AC worked fine. The pools were good! Above average, nothing bad or amazing. The room itself was clean and the bathroom was great. It was new and had a separate shower from the toilet. Sairee Cottages is close to everything and arguably one of the best locations. Because you can walk minutes everywhere. Beach is right there. Shops and tons of restaurants and bars are also right there. It’s close enough but also fairly quiet at night. I would say it wasn’t dead quiet but it was OK. The staff were very friendly and helped us buy a transfer to Surat Thank airport for the same price as the pier. It was pouring rain in sheets when we left the next day and the staff were g

What an amazing resort! We loved it, kids loved it, even grandparents loved it (we were a big group). Rooms are very big, very spacious. The place is clean and quiet, the beach is breathtaking. When I booked the rooms, I read reviews saying that the garden view rooms are little outdated and haven't been redecorated like the beach side villas. It's true but it really didn't matter to us. Yes, we didn't have a flat screen TV but does it really matter when you're in a place like that?! The hotel staff were very helpful, kind and caring (we left behind something in our previous hotel and they did their very best to help us retrieve it). The restaurant staff, not so much. Some were actually quite rude. The restaurant has amazing food but rather expansive (hence the 4/5 stars for the facilities) . There are lots of lovely places to eat just outside the resort, on the main road. I do, however, recommend Crystal Bay yacht club. We were there for 6 days and loved every minute of it.

In short: staff is SO nice, its CLEAN, location PERFECT, value for money YES! The staff was absolutely adorable and nice! Even the cleaning staff was witty and so friendly. The location was just perfect, away from the party and airport noise, a good long walk down the beach and you were in the main shopping area. Just perfect. And if you don't like to walk the reception will arrange one for you that is nice and clean. The hotel had the best atmosphere I have ever experienced. We walked down the beach to find somewhere else to eat, but found out that our hotel was just the best. We ended up eating 2 out of 3 nights there. It was just that good. And so cozy. The design of the restaurant/pool area is just so nice. You have that spa relaxed feeling staying there. I was actually a bit afraid of this hotel. Even though there are not many, some of the bad reviews was pretty bad. I quickly found out that people who writes bad reviews of this hotel are adults who wants to be treated like babies on their holidays. Tourists need to stop thinking that just because they are a paying guest, the staff is below you. Don't be rude! That annoys me to much. ... Oh well. But anyways - I would go back to Koh samui just to relax there again. Maybe for a honeymoon someday. :) Thank you Casa De Mar!

villa - spacious, nice design (award winning)outdoor shower and private pool are exceptional experience ! food - dining on the rock - the 10 course meal was amazing food - dining on the hill - you can see the sunset and the buffet (thai) was also amazing and good value (5 stars+ resort) butler - sort out booking for meals, buggy and departure nicely. resort pool - design and set out on the hill infinity pool ! one of the best. we will go back every year. a resort for hide out and relax.

Travel with my wife. Arrived at hotel reception which is top of the hill with breath taking scenery. When our room is ready, hotel guest relation manager show us around the room and explained the facilities within the room. She also share there are complimentary activities such as boat excursions, snorkeling, kayak, yoga and so much more. Unfortunately we only stay for 1 day which insufficient time for boat excursions but amazingly the hotel guest relation manager was kind enough to extend our check out time. Breakfast, again was seated facing amazing view of the sea. You get to select few type of egg dishes prepare freshly. I had Egg Royal and my wife had Thai style egg Benedict. Location perspective its quite a distance to city but you get privacy and can relax. But if you want to go to the city, you will need to book a taxi from hotel.

We stayed at Thai beach, Villa F, from 24.2.17 till 7.2.17… we are a couple (Israelis) with 3 daughters (age of 6 year, 3.5 years, 8 month). I read a lot of reviews before booking this resort… most of the reviews were very good. After staying for 2 weeks in this resort I believe the “bad” reviews which other people wrote are a “one time issue” that might happened… in general this is a great resort… I have been more than 10 times in Thailand so I have the experience to say: this is a perfect choice!!! Location: perfect location, the resort is on the beach with a very nice beach and ocean. On the other side is the main street with everything you need. Still inside the resort everything is nice and quiet. Rooms: we stayed in Villa F. Room is big enough + bathroom is very big. Located just on the pool (10 meter from the pool) so the kids can easily go to the room and back to the pool. The room is clean and well maintained. The bathroom is big and clean, good water flow. This is not a new resort but really, everything is in good condition, no worries. Pool: the pool is not so big (20m’ x 6m’) but it is enough for the kids for swimming and playing… the pool is 10 meter from the beach… Breakfast: not too fancy but you get everything you need… we defiantly like it! Restaurant: I have been many times in Thailand… the Thai beach restaurant is defiantly one of the best I have been in… the Pad-Thai is AMAZING… I mean AMAZING. All other dishes are so tasty and with reasonable price. We really loved it!!! Beach: very nice… you can stay on the beach (the sand is ok) and the ocean is very nice. You can buy corn, fruits etc. and whatever you need is there… Service: Roland has been so kind and supportive. Thank you Roland. The stuff is great… really kind and helpful. Most of the stuff can speak good enough English. Thanks’ also to Joy for helping me on a matter I had with the post office… To summarize, this is really a great resort and we will defiantly want to stay there again. Ila

We had an amazing time here! We stayed 4 nights in the panorama view room (102) it deserves 5 stars! The view was incredible almost like a dream we didnt want to leave the room or hotel. The sunsets on the roof were beautifull this panorama room is build like an appartment in which only a kitchen is missing! Its a 360 degrees glass bedroom with two balconees you can relax on. On top of the room/ appartment there's a roof terrace where you can have an romantic diner relaxing with some wine and enjoy the best sunset ever! Because its in the neighberhood of the populair sairee beach at night i could be a bit noisy but your room will make you forget this inconvenience totally. Last but not least the staff is very very kind and helpfull. Food and beverages are well priced and they even got minimarkets nearby. Scooters / motorbikes can be rent near to the hotel with discount if you stay at Simple life cliff resort. The hotel offers also a shuttle between the pier and hotel. Wecomeback!

This place is the best location of Sairee beach, and many of the locals I met diving said it was one of the best hotels on the island. Pickup and check in were a breeze and exactly as we would have liked. It was the first time that we have been served warm popcorn as we arrived at a hotel, it went down a treat. We booked for 4 days and found the place so nice that we extended by another 4 days. The first room that we had was not available for the second 4 days so they moved us to another room that was smaller but had a fantastic view of the beach. As then hotel is situated on a hill there are a number of steps to reach your rooms, but the view is defiantly worth the exercise. Breakfast was OK but nothing great, and we only ate one main meal at the restaurant as we tried out all the places along the beach. The beach in front of the hotel is cleaned each morning and the snorkelling straight in front of the hotel was very good. We managed to see many tropical fish during an easy half hour swim. We walked to many different pubs and restaurants from the beach and with such a choice to choose from we never repeated one restaurant. We found that the staff were friendly and pleasant whenever we needed them. The pool is nice, although with the lovely beach this was not used very much by us or the other guests. We took a longboat to the Japanese Gardens and the snorkelling there was fantastic and really worth the effort. Sairee beach can get very noisy, but we found the hotel to be far enough away that it did not bother us. The complimentary spa treatment was good and the spa is really nice although a bit more expensive that on the beach. Generally we had a lovely time there and would not hesitate in going back again.

Lamai Wanta is only 2 minutes from the center of Lamai (located on the island of Ko Samui, in the province of Surat Thani), close to restaurants, shops etc., yet very quiet and relaxed. Rooms are very clean, the restaurant & pool area is very nice (suitable for people travelling with small children). The beach is beautiful, v. good for swimming. There is also a DVD-library.

After did for so many filtered of hotel, thanks god, this is the best selection of hotel. We enjoyed big pool and beach front hotel room. But the hotel is a bit inside from main road, you will need to walk out like 5-6 mins to access to main road. Therefore we rented a bike with hotel so that we able to drove to far to explored others areas than Lamai beach. We would like to suggested Lamai View Point. Must check it out if you happen to come Lamai. The massage service Infront of our hotel is superb, we had try massage and scrub. It is Just a few steps walked from hotel room to the beach & massage place. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. You can also rent water sport -like jetski with nearby company. We felt It is cheaper compare to Chaweng Beach. But for the environment surrounding we felt it will a little more quiet compare to Chaweng Beach. Definitely will stay this hotel again!

Ko Tao is the one place I would definitely go back to during my trip in Thailand. As far as hotels go, this isn't really 5 star but we found everything just perfect. The hotel has its own beach with amazing snorkelling (probably better than the tours!) the staff are wonderful and there is a beautiful restaurant over the water where the sun sets. (It's as romantic and relaxing as you can get!) Although it didn't bother us one bit, our room had no TV, there is no pool and it is a bit of a hike to get back into town. Definitely recommend this place and all the locals seemed to think it was the best on the island when we were asked where we were staying.
