Beautiful accommodation and excellent amenities”
We stayed 3 nights in Koh Phangan having island hopped from Koh Tao. The journey there from the pier where we arrived was a bit of a hassle as there wasn't a shuttle bus service to meet us. But after getting a taxi to the hotel complex - which took about half an hour - we were met at the gate by a quirky wood clad vehicle. This was also the mode of transport for shuttling guests to and from all hotel amenities once we had arrived. The Santhiya offers beautiful views of the bay from some rooms - we chose a deluxe room with a garden partial sea view. We were happy with our choice of room although if we were too come again, we would perhaps have chosen a room with a clear sea view instead of the partial view - as for my wife - was only had by standing on tip toes - over lush vegetation. Access to most accommodation is steep so use of the wooden hotel 'taxis' is a must for anyone who doesn't like walking in the tropical heat. The in house bus service is very convenient, free, and available 24 hours a day. There are two main swimming pools one being next to the hotel beach. The hotel beach isn't the best to swim from as it is quite rocky although the view is still pretty. However a short walk from the hotel beach to the larger adjoining bay and more spectacular beach is fairly convenient although the downside to this is slightly precarious - owners of the land between one beach and another have inexplicably put up barbed wire fence along part of the route, making the walk potentially hazardous as there are rocks to negotiate. If you have young children this could be problematic. The walk to the other beach is a must if you wish to dine out from the hotel's three restaurants. After fifteen to twenty minute walk along the beach, you will get to the village which offers a few other amenities. Food at the hotel itself was good especially the breakfast which included a range of Thai and European cuisine. Unfortunately there were not any gluten free options available for my wife. As she is also sensitive to seed oils, eggs can be cooked in butter on request. I feel that allergen awareness could be improved although personally l had no problems whatsoever with the food offered. The room was beautiful and mostly smelt of lemongrass from the diffusers that were relit daily by room service. My wife had wonderful a spa treatment which itself offers beautiful views of the bay. If you enjoy the sounds of nature - from tropical bird calls and the distinctive call of the Tokay lizard - you'll have to look this up - - you will love this place as it made it seem like you were immersed in the jungle without any of the potential discomforts. Btw the return leg of our journey was much less hassle than our trip to the hotel. We opted to take the hotel's speed boat service - costing approximately 700 baht each - which accommodates up to 20 guests and their luggage. It takes you directly to the pier for an onward journey to Koh Samui. It takes about an hour and was very convenient compared to public transport. We would definitely come back again to this tropical haven.

My partner and I recently enjoyed a stay at this resort, booking one of their private pool villas with a beach view. Overall, our experience was comfortable, though there were a few aspects that left us feeling slightly underwhelmed. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the private pool villa, which offered stunning views of the beach. However, we found the pricing to be a bit on the higher side considering the overall value provided. While the service was commendable, it was surprising to note that most of the staff hailed from Burma rather than the expected Thai hospitality. Nonetheless, they were welcoming and maintained a high level of professionalism throughout our stay. One of the standout features of our experience was the quality of the food, particularly the Thai cuisine served at the main restaurant. It exceeded our expectations and was a delightful culinary experience. However, we did not explore all the dining options available at the resort. In terms of location, the resort is a bit secluded from the main attractions of the island, requiring guests to hire a motorbike to explore the surrounding areas. This may be inconvenient for those seeking easy access to the island's top spots. While our villa provided picturesque views, we were disappointed by the lack of privacy, as neighboring guests could easily see into our pool and balcony area. This detracted from the exclusivity we expected from such accommodations. In conclusion, our stay at this resort was pleasant overall, and we would recommend it for a short getaway. However, for those seeking a truly high-end experience, there may be better options available. With some improvements in pricing, staff diversity, and privacy measures, this resort has the potential to elevate its offerings to match its picturesque setting.
My favourite Resort in Thailand”
This was my second time here. We stayed from February 11 to 16, and wished we could have added days. The resort is enchanting and has a real jungle feel to it. Our room was a very large villa with a bathroom that spanned nearly the entire back of the room, with an outdoor shower. Everyone at the resort is a pleasure to deal with. Our room, 1503, was surprisingly close to the main pool, reception and breakfast. It took about 5 minutes walking to get to the beach. There are nice lemongrass smells coming out of diffusers in the rooms, and the rooms are very clean. The public bathrooms are also very clean and well maintained. The pool is gorgeous, huge and has two waterfalls. The buffet breakfast is the best we have had throughout our travels with a lot of variety and an omelets station that also serves eggs benedict. The only slight drawback is that the location of the resort is fairly far from the larger centres on the island. We rentented a scooter and had fun driving around, although the terrain in Koh Phangan is quite hilly. There is a nice beach and cute village basically next door to the Resort (you just need to take a little trail to get there) that would have anything you may want by way of "off resort" convenience store, taxis, water taxis, light shopping, local cuisine... I can't say enough about this place; it's so charming and makes me feel like cancelling all my other plans once I get there :)

Read some reviews saying negative things so we were quite worried having booked this but we made our way from Santhiya on Yao Yai to the sister resort on Phangan. We were met by the most welcoming, well trained and kindly staff imaginable! They cannot do enough to ensure you are happy, informed and comfortable but without being too much. We stayed in a pool villa which was impeccably clean, the beds are so comfy, the room smells of lemongrass most of the time from the refreshed oil burners the housekeeping staff leave both indoors and outdoors. The bathroom is private to the outside, uncomfortable if it’s raining as there is no cover over the shower but other than that, it is an open air bathroom on a tropical island, I loved it, some reviews mentioned it as a negative but if you’re booking a villa which openly describes an outdoor bathroom included then expect the expected. The food was amazing, not over priced either and lovely quality with plenty of options for the breakfast too. The upkeep of the resort is perfectly fine, it isn’t brand new so yes there are a few maintenance issues here and there, a shingle loose on the roof of the villa or a slightly loose floorboard, but again, it’s a tropical island resort which is weathered by the sea and heavy rains at times so I wouldn’t expect any other. Overall a gorgeous 5* experience!!
