"We’ve had the fortune to have traveled quite a bit in our lives, but rarely if never have we encountered hosts which were as friendly and as willing to go above and beyond to be helpful. The couple running the place (Nat & Marco) speak English, Italian, French, Portuguese and probably more :) The place feels alive and personal and is located in a quiet street just between the beautiful Santo Antonio and Pelourinho. The breakfast they serve is beautiful and the vibe is very friendly. In understanding we might not get to our ferry on time they offered to drive us personally to make sure we did. Enough said..! :-)"

"My room was upgraded by the owner manager, so that I had a bigger room overlooking the harbour, which is very nice that I could enjoy sunset and sunrise from the room. Owner & staff speak good English and are very helpful. Location is in the heart of Centro Historico, close to shops, restaurants, and historical buildings/museums/churches. Breakfast is very generous in terms of variety and portion. If there is a downside of this hotel, it is only the road which is forbidden for cars. So from the main road we have to walk carrying our luggage to find the hotel (short distance though). But this is only when you come in; upon departure the hotel staff will help carrying your luggage to the main road where the taxi is waiting."

"This is definitely only a hostel; and certainly of poor standard for the cost of stay. Rooms can only be accessed by steep wooden stairs; and the spartan, cell-like accommodation is unclean. There is nothing modern except the single computer at the front desk for 15 minutes of internet access at a time. The building, on a cobbled street of the old town, is essentially as it has always been, including the old wooden doors to rooms. There is no security for personal belongings. Hostel pick-up from the airport meant that luggage had to be carried several blocks, uphill, along the cobbled streets. The generally friendly staff seem to be on duty around the clock to unlock the front gate to the hostel. However, services are very limited."
