Big room for the 4 of us!”
Vila Hou Va is located not too far from The Ruins of St. Paul's (walking distance ~15min) There's a bus stop right outside the hotel but you may need to wait for a while to get a taxi. The staff from the 2 restaurants nearby the hotel are also friendly. The best thing is that the room is so big that I think it could easily fit 6 people despite it being a room for 4 (2 queen-sized beds and 2 big single beds) You will need to ask the hotel staff to unlock the room for you every time you come back but it's not a problem for us as we didn't come back at midnight (but I guess they would be there as well during midnight)

Not a bad choice if other hotels have no vacancy”
Main thing is you don't get the key. When you leave the hotel, you have to self lock the door from inside. Come back and you need the hotel owner to open for you. House cleaner makeup my room on the same day i check in though, but nothing is missing. You have to have that trust i guess. Came back at 3am and appreciate owner woke up to open door for me. Toilet is a bit small for me but it's fine. Aircon takes some time to "warm up" to get cold. Bed is comfortable and there is a nearby bus stop to go anywhere. The bus's stops are written so with a map, you can go anywhere. There are some cheap food nearby, but mainly local food. Supermarket is nearby too. Overall, everything is pretty average for this hotel, or rather motel. 12 rooms only anyway. It feels more like a homestay, and provide a good place to sleep in. I will book this place again, provided i exhaust all options though. Price is a bit steep for a motel, but land is scarce in Macau. All hotels are unfortunately expensive. Overall good experience.

Ideal for those who will tour the whole day... ”
Our stay was ok. We arrived in the hotel past 12 midnight due to our delayed flight. The cab driver did not find the main entrance of the hotel and had to drop us off a couple of small streets away. Good we came across a very helpful Filipino who walked us to the hotel and even to the reception, where another Filipina, was working. Our room was already prepared which was good. Our 4-bed room (room #10) was decent, with coffee pot, aircon, tv and fans (one not working though). Shower pressure very good, with hot and cold. Soap, shampoo and toothbrush are also available. No fridge though. Wi-fi access is strong only at reception. Needed to open door a bit to get some connection. Location though is quite good since there is a bus stop just to the left of the hotel entrance..bus 3 and 33 goes to the ferry terminal, which was good since we went on a day trip to HK. Another good thing is the food stall below the hotel who sells fish balls and a lot of other goodies which was very good and open until 2am. The 24 hour mini grocery within 2 minutes from the hotel was also very convenient. We were hoping to get some consideration though for a late check out since we got in very late already on our first night. Unfortunately we were told that we could only extend if we pay 95patacas per hour. Given that, we checked out by 12noon and spent another 8 hours roaming the streets of Macau with our bags before we headed to the airport to catch our 10pm flight.

Affordable and Not hard to find”
The size of the room is just right for the price. The bathroom is clean which is what I always look at. The place isnt hard to find. It’s just across the bus stop. And the cats are really cute! The staff doesnt understand english well which is why it’s hard to approach them and communicate. Sometimes I’m not sure if they’re being rude or that’s really just how they speak. But it shouldnt be a problem if you’re out all day and not in the hotel. It’s cheap for budget travellers like myself.

Reasonably priced hotel near the old town”
Situated not far from the Camões Garden from where you can start a walk through the historic centre. The room has reasonable space and everything a normal traveller needs (hot water, international mains sockets, kettle etc.). There are many budget places to eat nearby. Bus MT4 from the airport and bus 3 from the ferry terminal stop not far from the hotel.

Overrated,Dusty,Toilet Bowl spoilt,Good location”
The location of Vila Hou Va (should be hostel and not hotel) is very good which close with R. Ribeira Patane bus stop. We 've stayed there for 3 days 2 nights. The staff there can't speak english, but so luckily my mom able to communicate with them in mandarin. The room was quite big, but unfortunately the interior was very old and dusty. The bathroom also very small and the worst thing, the toilet bowl was spoilt (can't flush). We reported to a lady staff in receptionist , but what she replied to us "I told you to not throw the toilet paper inside the bowl". We have not even use the toilet bowl, we just want to flush first before we used. To be honest, she was very rude by the time to us. She told us to plumb by ourselves. Just fyi, we have stayed in room. In case you will get this room, please try all the aircon,tv, flush the toilet bowl in front of the staff before you stay there. For me and my family, we regret to stay there and not recommended this hostel.

High cost, low value”
Minuses - one of the receptionists was extremely rude, she ruined our whole experience; the toilet got stuck after few flushing; we had to restart the router for Internet every hour for it to work on my laptop; you don't get the key for the room, the receptionist opens it for you every time Pluses - the accommodation is close to the old part of Macau and all the touristic attractions are in the walkable distance; however you can experience difficulties in finding the taxi to Taipa, airport, etc, so you should walk a bit further from hotel; the AC works properly, the water is hot

Not really impressive ”
Overall not bad, but i think the receptionist is just friendly but not really helpful. I went to Macau for backpack trip so i prefer public transport. However when i asked how to go to A place, the receptionist just showed me the map of Macau instead of giving me one, and she suggested me to go there by taxi. I thought it's not a good solution

awful”
i booked this hostel because on the day i originally checked there were only 3 available hotels. since it was chinese new year, i thought it was logic, and had to book this one as the price was (though high), but lower than at the two others on taipa, which was inconvenient for us. when i checked hotels 2 days later - was available at same price! Vila Hou Va is a dirty, fuggy place (even to compare with other hostels we ever stayed), staff doesn't speak English or even Mandarin, doesn't know the city to show attractions on the map. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE EVEN IF THERE ARE NO AVAILABLE HOTELS - WAIT FOR SEVERAL DAYS!

Friendly staff and value for money in Macau.”
1.Feel like going home, as the room is quite big and clean ( I pick 4 people in a room, but it can fit up to 6 people). 2.Reception are friendly, they do recommend all the near by attractions and guide us how to reach there. It's awesome. 3.Casino, restaurant and attractions are all walking distance, a convenient location.

Very expensive, but with big room...worth!”
Limited choice for budget hotel, so we choose this hotel. Generally, we have 4 family member, we book 4 single bed room but turn out with 2 queen bed & 2 big single bed. Feel likely it is too big for our 4 members only with high cost accommodation fees (we expect to save money on accommodation) Far away from the central, required to take bus to go central of the city. Need to take taxi if you go out in midnight. Closest Casino need to walk 15 minutes, which is a small casino!

Bigger Rooms”
Our room is different from the picture in Agoda. Surprisingly its a lot bigger than the picture considering the price of our room. However, the front desk doesn't know how to speak ENGLISH and not very accommodating. The location is GOOD, perfect for those traveler who wish to take the bus instead of a taxi. I'm from Philippines and I stayed here last November 13-14, 2015

Average Macau Hostel”
The room was big but not so clean, I must say because I saw some dirt in the corners of the room and on the floor. The room smelled old, but to make sure the linens were newly washed, I smelled them too. Fortunately, it smelled of laundry soap so I was relieved. The bathroom is a small strip of space, just enough for you to take a shower and to use the toilet. They were generous to lend bath towels for each of us and they have basic bathroom toiletries. I understood why there were misleading feedbacks for this hotel in booking sites. There were two receptionists – one for the morning and one for night. Since we checked in at 11pm, it was the guy who welcomed us. He didn’t say much because he doesn’t know how to speak in English, but he can understand a little. He is a bit snob, though I was thinking maybe it’s because of the language barrier. The other receptionist in morning shift is a woman around her twenties I think. She is more approachable and kind. WSo I concluded, it’s definitely better to transact within the day than talk to the guy at night especially if you do not know how to speak their language.

Good”
The place was good for someone whose on a budget. It was hard talking to the receptionist as they dont speak english. Location was far from the line of hotels near the airport. We were declined by taxi drivers as they are not familiar with the hotel's name and location. It's best if the hotel would give more instructions on how to get there by bus as there are multiple lines of bus outside the building. Some grocery stores and food stalls are nearby.

It's located at the place where even taxi driver dont want to go there due to traffic jam. The only good i can remember is that it had the cheapest restaurant i could found in macau at its opposite road.

It's ok if you looking for just a budget hotel in Macau”
The location was good - can walk to senado square within 10 mins with heaps of food surrounded by. The room was ok. little small. BUT like other said in other reviews that the staff weren't friendly and they CAN NOT speak English at all. and they kept doing something noisy outside my room until late at night. It is ok if you looking for a budget hotel..
